Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Three of @cjwaldon
's project fibro frizzles are out (one has fuzzy legs :love ) and one of her Ayam Cemani have hatched so far.  20 or so eggs to go...

:clap excited to see pics of those!

Incuview screw up on my part, lost 2 eggs, rest are doing well. Hatch is supposed to be 3 days, but I'm figuring 4 with the lid left of for 2 days

Could have been worse. Good luck!

I'm @ss  dragging  from work lately minute here minute there . That storm passed right over me .  No major damage other than some tin and a tree or two . Made me nervous though .

Awesome. Ravyn gave us an update. We were worried about you after hearing how bad it hit her. :hugs

Anybody got any quick info on BLRWs? Comb, leg color etc, what to look for?

Have a friend looking at some and was told that they were pure but the comb isn't right. How the &#&# can they be pure if the comb isn't right?? But I know nothing, absolutely nothing, about Wyandottes. Just trying to help her out.

So, I can't say for sure that they're pure and I don't have my SOP handy to answer your other questions, but I can tell you about the comb. They are supposed to have rose combs. However, a lot of lines aren't pure for this. Breeders do it on purpose because, and this sounds weird but it's supposedly true, lines pure for rose comb have lower fertility. So, if the combs they have are single combs, this is not uncommon.

Wyandottes should have yellow legs. They are supposed to have rose combs however sometimes a single comb will pop up, its believed that the rose comb lowers fertility and the single comb adds fertility (no idea how true that is) so people keep the single comb in there, it comes from their Cochin ancestors.

rosecomb, red color should be a deep mahogany red. No brassy/gold coloring. Yellow legs. Nice tail spread, no pinched tails. They are dual purpose so broad enough to carry meat and lay eggs. Legs should be wide set. Narrow bodies and close legs should be avoided.

Single combs pop up in the breed but should be culled.

I used to raise these and never had fertility issues. Just lost interest in them

Glad the storm didn't cause too much damage at your place. What's for dinner?
