They will eat dead chickens live ones too . seen them do it more than once .Wow.
I think we're feeding fairly cheap, it's $9.00 a bag for non-gmo (it's cheaper to buy that then the stuff at tractor supply!) and they don't eat a whole lot since they get all the scrapes and are out in about an acre of woods. They killed something this morning, don't know what it was but they all three came back with bloody snouts. Yeah they will eat just about anything. Well unless the cattle will eat what the goats eat they're out of the question for the moment
Yeah, I've noticed goats are starting to cost almost as much as a calf. I do do my best to keep things in order and try and follow the market.
I like it when you ramble.
This advice is across the board . Any investment in livestock should be precluded by several trips to ones local livestock sale . It is unwise to buy what you can't unload quick . Say if you have three or four sale barns in a hundred mile radius of where you live hit all three . Watch what sales and what brings the highest price. Most of the time what brings the highest price is what the buyers like in your area . Should you be able to find that type outside of your area cheaper that's a smart move . Also learn who the buyers are . There are almost always the same buyers at every sale . Cattle feed lots work on small profit margins and massive head counts . These buyers are almost always at the same sales every week . Lambs and hogs are next .Goats and poultry are more backyard live stock . The major poultry packers have their own growing houses. Long story short buy and raise what sells best in the area you live in . Then learn all you can about body type . know what the best one is for that breed . anyone can buy animals. Making sure you buy a good one is very important to success.Look into highland cattle, they'll brows with the goats. And are great momma's.![]()
Not familiar with those Dan . But there has been a lot of breed development in the last century .One problem it's 100+F nine months of the year here. I think the ones that would do best would be Pineywoods
Nothing wrong with heat cept for butt necked is as bare as I can get . Ain't that a scary thoughtI enjoy it. Usually it's 100F May or June to September, the other four are usually closer to upper 80s mid 90s
Don't forget the monkeyKeep your banana out of this.
I can't smell rotten eggs much anymore... If they explode I can tell when I open the incubator, but they don't bother me much. Nose is broke.
Looks liked a canned weiner, but bananas do come in many sizes and colors. Do they can bananas ?
Wow, just Wow! I never knew there were so many like us in the world. You all make me feel normal. Where else can you find such a combination of insanity, bizarre/warped humor intermingled with solid good husbandry and common sense ?
VW/WV surely did the world a favor when she created a sanctuary for all of us. I wonder if there are warning signs around the Pond. I didn't notice any when I was locked out.
They can possum, so anything is possible...![]()
Hey, Don't blame me!
it was a little voice inside my head, kinda like that Kevin Costner baseball movie.
