Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

yep...I think Muscovy are pretty unique in that regard.

I love the family dinamics. Very cool.

I also love how the drakes will beat the snot out of any predator. Remember how my baby drake fought off a bald eagle?

I lost both baby drake and papa drake last winter. :hit Still not sure why.

The 2 one legged drakes were supposed to be Christmas dinners.

Oh, no!!! :hit :hugs

I do remember that!! :(

I was thinking the same thing. Goodness I love those little black babies! (Can I say that? You all know I'm talking about birds, right?)

:lau

If ya only heard the things I holler around here! :lau :lau

Fully black, including toenails... first one I have ever hatched... most of the keepers have clear nails with black quicks and the nails fill out black within a week or 2... this one is solid right from hatch... :D

I'm so glad you got one like that. I've had two here recently. One this hatch and one in the hatch before last.

Thank you!!!!
I am glad too and super stoked!! A 2nd keeper is *almost* as dark... tips of the nails are dark and the bases, just a smidgen of clear nail between, lol... can't wait to grow these babies out! :bun

@orrpeople do you have a toe punch? I highly recommend one to mark separate lines... :)
Yeah, definitely something I will need- especially for ACs!! I put bands on my 55s from GF, and noticed two somehow got them off. Thankfully they're still a lot smaller than Candace's, so I have a few more weeks before it becomes an issue.

The DH and I are all packed for one last backpack trip before mountain temps fall. Once again, we are hoping the kids keep everything alive while we are away. Thankfully, it's not too hot anymore, so running out of water won't be instantly deadly.
Also, operation roo-move was a success. Wonder if the girls will be relieved or upset... or neither and just go about their business.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I only got one backpacking trip in over the summer, but would like to do more.

Yup, that almost always happens... no matter which bands... toe punching is such a relief, you have to catch to check, but bands work for distance checks... and is a fail safe when bands come off, break, etc...

Since when am I sweet?
SGC!!!!! LOL....

All these pictures and talk of chicks makes me want to try to hatch some. But I will stay strong until we are close to spring here!
