Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Was that a disturbance in the force you just felt?? No, that was the wave of Orr's jealousy flowing down from NorCal! ;)
(I LOVE Disneyland. .. Love it - would marry it... if I was into that kind of thing. :bun)

:lau:gig You are so funny!!! :gig:lau My kids were super jealous too! They say that's the kind of stuff that always "gets" to happen to me. May The Force be with you orr, always! :lau

BTW., I'm really having a fabulous time with my choir camp kiddos. :)

Oh good!!! Glad thats going well. If you're enjoying it I bet they are too! :thumbsup

I survived my Disneyland adventures, but I was randomly captured by a couple Imperial Guards, marched thru the crowd at gun point, detained & accused of being a Rebel Traitor.

Got along great with the other humans there, but I'm pretty sure they'll remember me as 'that freaky white chick in the combat boots.' :lau:gig

I wouldn't mention it. We know you're meticulous about your biosecurity best not to give somebody the wrong idea that might hurt future sales. I yes, you know I'd keep them.

I see you Dudder! :love

You & I would have been BFF's :highfive:
I think we would have too. . judging from your hat in that picture! :gig
Around the time I used to take the bunny for a stroll I had a big straw hat with a big pink bow on it that I thought was just super awesome. . .. :lau
Until I wore it to school. :gig

You would've liked me :thumbsup:highfive:

Only way I know to block her off is to board up the front of the nest box she's in (design malfunction when I built them), but she couldn't get out.

I've put a 2nd dog box in the tractor & have the 2x4 wire cut to partition it off. She & one of her sisters like to sleep in the nest boxes, so the bedding's mixed with crap. Going to TSC here in a bit to get another 2x2 to frame out the wire (just used all I have), so I can use it again if I need it, and it'll be ready to go. Hoping Mama ain't nasty enough to jump over it to go after the month-old BCMs, & the BCMs are bright enough to stay on their side. Little ones could easily get through, but Mama should be able to call them back.

I had a similar worry with Baby Iris. I left the broody in an upper nesting box to long to move her. I was afraid the chick would fall out into the mouth of the angry duck bellow, but didn't want to totally block them in either. I compromised with a little strip of plastic garden fence at the edge of the nesting box. Short enough to get in/out if they wanted, but kept baby from accidentally falling out.

Not too shabby, 'specially if it worked.

I decided to play both ends against the middle, being's it's so close to hatch, and not wanting to upset the hen needlessly. I finished the divider & got it in place. The feed & water are up against the 2x4 wire, so they're accessible from either side. I'm going to leave Momma & brats where they are, in the main coop with the flock, unless a problem develops. Hopefully, everything will be fine. If not, I'm ready.

In the event the babies are raised with the flock from the beginning, the day will come, in a couple weeks, when Momma wants to introduce the brats to the world outside the coop, which is 3 feet off the ground. They won't be able to negotiate the ramp right away. Can a hen carry a chick to the top of a ramp w/o incident?
