Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Have to admit I had a bit of a chuckle at your expense today. We ran out of supplies for our "to fix" list and had to make a trip to town. We made a stop at Walmart and while I was in the fresh veggies something went "whoosh" right past me from behind. I looked and it was a manager on one of these (a knee walker) with a big cast on his leg and holding up a broom in one hand. I suddenly got a mental image of you flying down the mountain on it and I couldn't help but laugh (DH staring at me like I had lost it) :lau

With the right tires, I could make that vision a reality! ;)

Oh, poo! DS3 just called to say they won't be coming this weekend. Grandson has been running a fever, has a runny nose and is altogether miserable. (He's got molars coming through.) I agree that the little guy will be happier at home, but still... Oh well. We're going to try to get down there next week to see them.
:( that's a downer :hugs

117 today crossing from Spring Valley to Santee.... Alpine has a big fire.... Camp Pendleton has a big fire.... And Scrips ranch has one... The one at scrips ranch is following a velley that burns up to the back of grandmas house....

were on alert.

Hubby and I went to wonders of wildlife museum and aquarium today. It was really cool! My favorite thing was the penguins :p
But I didn't get any pictures of them there were too many people surrounding me:rolleyes:
Saw an albino alligator. That was pretty cool. And pink flamingos. :gig

Can I just take a couple of minutes to feel sorry for myself? Not only is not coming, I washed my dining room window today (I salvaged a mini-blind that I thought I could put up, so I took the curtain down and washed that, and figured I'd wash the window as long as it was all bare) and it rained. There was NO rain in the forecast, even though it's been cloudy and gloomy most of the day. I hadn't been done for 5 minutes, when it started to thunder and downpoured, splattering my window. I got the blind out of the package, only to find that it's too wide to mount inside the window, but not wide enough to mount on the outside, unless I want to attach it to the middle of the window frame. :he It didn't cost me anything, but I was so looking forward to having that up! I guess I'll just continue to hang a towel in the window for the few weeks of the year that the sun comes in *just right* while we're eating supper and blinds us.

Worse than my window, DH had just gotten herbicide sprayed on our corn - it needs to be on 4 hours before rain to be effective - it probably got washed off, which means we'll have to have it sprayed again, paying for it twice with crop prices tanking every day.

OK, enough being grumpy. I will find a way to hang that blind. I hope. I have another option, but don't know how I'd do that either. (Have I ever mentioned that I'm mechanically impaired?) I could - if DH would let me - hang it from the ceiling of the bay window. He just hates putting screws into woodwork. I could ask for his help, but I hate asking for help. He's always willing to do it, but I like to think I'm fairly independent sometimes.
:hugs Farm life ain't it a blast . Do you wash your hay too?:lau I been washing mine for two days :( My pretty clover is now pretty black .

DS just texted. They think GS has hand, foot and mouth disease. Poor little guy!

No hay down at the moment - need to fix the mower first. There is a field of alfalfa down the road that's been getting washed for about a week. Not so pretty green anymore. Another neighbor just started baling. The hay smells wet and moldy.

Beautiful pics! We took our GD to a zoo today, rode a little train thru the place, walked around and saw all the animals. They even had a barnyard group with donkeys, a few chickens, a couple llamas and some goats. Some exotics, ostriches, zebras, cheetahs, etc. nice small zoo, so not too over powering for a 4year old.
