I've got an injured hen. She's done something to one of her legs. I can't feel a break and she can walk on it but she isn't fit to be free ranging. She'll hobble along a bit and then sit down so can't keep up with the tribe. It feels a bit swollen at the shoulder joint.
Vets shut. Even the emergency vet isn't taking chickens be cause their chickens expert is on holiday.
I've got some Metacam with some multivitamin down her and she's eating as normal.
She's in the maternity unit atm, but I'm going to bring her in once the others have gone to bed.

She's in good hands no doubt!

Maybe just a sprain? I'd isolate and confine her as much as possible for a little observation. Hopefully its nothing serious.

She's been in the maternity unit this afternoon.
I've brought her in with me for the night and she's in the pet carrier on top of the nesting box giving me dirty looks.
I'll give her another 0.2mg of Metacam before I go to sleep.
She can't move about much in the pet carrier so hopefully she'll rest the leg properly.

I hope it helps and she's at least a little better by morning.. completely better is preferred tho!

Sounds like you're doing the very best you can with her. Hope she heals quickly.

Funeral was postponed until tomorrow. Our "winter weather advisory" turned into a full-blown blizzard. White-out conditions and bitterly cold windchills. Home and hunkered down.
