Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I asked a friend what they thought about the site and they said something like this
"Question is asked, followed by several opinions, then an argument ensues, or the thread goes way off topic". Note I am guilty of this behavior but am making an effort to not argue or hijack threads.

@perchie.girl
I'm sorry, I've lost track a bit. What is your final body weight goal and what is the time schedule to get to it.
We need to know so we can keep an eye on you.:p:hugs
No schedual.... But statistically by the end of a chronological year I have a chance of loosing seventy percent of what I need to loose.

Reality:

I lost more than forty pounds before surgery... actually I lost thirty eight pounds because my first weight in after surgery was the 12th of the month.... I was at 330 pounds

So my excess is now at 200 lbs.... Seventy percent of that is 140

330-140= 190 wich will leave me still around 40 pounds to loose.

But.... Here is the caveot... Once I gain my strenght and learn enough to eat because I dont feelhungry any more I am going to have to count measure and weigh constantly till I get what I need to loose more weight.

That will have to be through a tool like fit bit. it adjusts as you loose weight to keep the weiight loss constant. Matter of fact I hope to work with my fitbit from the first. Its a tool I know.

So my main goal is 150 but initially I am setting it at 130.

so if you were expecting a straight story.... sorry.

Numbers on the scale are just a tool.... so I opt for a range.

That range will be finished when i feel comfortable living at that weight.

Well, with the badge does come a level of responsibility to act decently to others. Being nasty to other posters is just rude. There are ways to disagree without being an Ahole about it.
So if that means supporting the site, then so be it.

And fyi, I do own ducks and the duck forums here are much less abundant than the chicken stuff, so I do sometimes assist in that area, but the area that I feel more comfortable advising in is incubating chicks and ducks. I incubate and deal with broodies pretty much year round. Many times, it comes down to helping calm a new member during a hatch, and just holding their hand from afar. It feels pretty good to me to help someone have a successful hatch.
That isn't quite what I had in mind when mentioning supporting the ethos of the site.:hmm
You could be perfectly pleasant while still condemning hatcheries and chick bins in farm stores.

:lau You got a better response than I have when I've asked the people I know what they think about BYC.

I think you're doing great. :clap Very brave if I may say so.
I imagine once you're fully recovered from the operation you'll feel like you can do more and exercise then will be important. I can't wait for your report of being back on a horse.:)

As it should, IMO.

Agree, and I am working on being nicer.

I say this a lot now

I think many members are afraid to post. One said the other day they didn't want to post for the fear of being chastised for not euthanizing their bird!

You are on my go-to list for those! You are so good at calming people down and holding their hand through the whole hatching process! :bow

Yeah, same for me. I do some helping in the Duck forums and the Diseases and Injuries forum, and of course I always help with duck color genetics (but those I studied and learned after I already had my badge). There are other things I will chime in on occasionally too. So while I do help in other areas, I'm sure my badge was primarily awarded for the helping I do with the incubating and hatching of all kinds of species. You're totally right, a lot of the time it's just calming a new hatcher down and assuring them that they can do it, and if something does come up, that someone is there who will be willing to answer their questions and help them.

You're another that is so good helping people hatch, and I have learned a lot about genetics from you too! :bow

Both you and @WVduckchick have published so many good articles too!

I won’t condemn hatcheries and farm stores, because they do provide a service in this country. Many people get their start that way. Then if they get serious about it, they figure out there are better sources, but getting them involved to begin with is still worth it.

Being open to other ways of doing anything poultry related is important too. You think your way is the only way! It may very well be, with your setup, but it’s not the world over. This site serves everything from keeping one hen for fresh eggs in a tiny backyard coop to huge farmers, raising chickens to butcher as food. I support any and every effort.

As it should, IMO.
