Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good morning Pond Pretties, Perps, Peeps, and Pervs. Have a fine and dandy day.

Our home and property are the best investment that we have ever made.
Same here; everything I enjoy, room enough to pretty much do what I want w/o being bothered, yet conveniently close to 'civilization'

How does a family of average means afford to live in CA!?
You are in CA, if I remember right.
I'm with Al; why does anyone put up with those prices & congestion if they don't have to?
Just help CA break away from the mainland & become a resort island playground for the "deep pocket" crowd.

Its a constant financial struggle, the people are infuriating, the politics are a mess... I stay because you cant beat the weather, because my kids have access to a lot of stuff all year & because my family has lived here since the wild west (me & my kids are the last remaining in the state.) This place is deeply embedded in my blood & though I search for new places to live all the time, I know I don't really want to leave. It would be great if all the other yahoos left tho.

All in what you're used to, I guess. I doubt I could handle it. Up 'til about 10 years ago, I was wanting to move to WI for better fishing, but it didn't work out. Got older, & realized I'd be out in the middle of nowhere in strange territory with my only family still working everyday, making my big water fishing trips dependant on their work schedules.

DH hates the mentality & the politics here (so do I), but after 25yrs he's adapted to the lifestyle so completely that I doubt he could survive anywhere else.

Well, I think I have the flu, hooray. It started two days ago and hasn't been terrible so I was hoping it was just a different virus, but nope, as of tonight it's getting even worse. Guess I better go to the doctor tomorrow to confirm whether or not it is the flu.

Meanwhile Luna, formerly Rio, the cockatiel that I just rescued, is also sick. Had to take her to the vet today so she didn't die. So I have to be giving her medication too.

I hit like, but I fully dislike this! It feels like you’re right in your 7-10 flu window. I hope you didn’t get kilingonits or the ramulan measles from comic con.

Dang! What does Luna have? :(

Sorry for you too! :hugs

A respiratory infection. So far she'd had a shot of meloxicam, a shot of enrofloxacin, and I have to give her tetracycline for the next seven days, which I'm sure she's going to appreciate. She was NOT good last night. I thought she was going to die. Luckily, I had a tiny bit of enrofloxacin on hand myself and dosed her, and put her under a heat lamp.

Right now she's eating, so she's starting to feel better. She's gotta go back for a recheck on Tuesday.

I tell you what, sitting in the waiting room at the vet for an hour with the flu wasn't a good time. They had tissues, but no garbage can, so I had to keep shoving them all in my pockets :sick
