Better safe than sorry, Ken. We may be old, but we still have things to do.

@BYC910 when I got into my truck this morning the first song to immediately play was, "A Country Boy Will Survive." I do wonder about those city folks who eat out nearly every day. What will the do if/when restaurants and fast food joints shut down ?

They won't most uber drivers are young and if healthy the virus dosen't affect them .It like the flu is a respiratory virus .That is why it is taking a toll on our age group.Acording to The president we will prevail .Remember that our parents and grandparents put together a war effort in a very short time, to fight both the German and Japanese military. Simple redirction of production and a proper battle plan is all it will take.And if they had listened to the Chinese doctor that sounded the alarm .global travel would have been stopped three months ago .Also it is like we have passed amongest or selves for years .You don't know what disease is till you culter.So why can't you or we be able to get a swap kit .Simple as open and wipe seal and mail for a test .It isn't rocket science. And inspite of what they think we are not idiots .

I just really worry about the long term ramifications.

Because some of the stuff/precautions they are doing is going to make regular families go broke.

Not that I want people dying either.... it is just I am not so sure about some of the things they are doing....

I heard that in Seattle, if a laboring mom tests positive, then they take her baby away for 12 to 14 days.

That right there is evil, as well as wrong and unhelpful. If the mom has it, then the baby has it, duh, they were blood swapping. The baby needs the immunities that the mon is producing in her breast milk, not the trauma of separation and formula!

It blows my mind that people are agreeing to these rules!

For real if you survive then you have suficent immunities to fight off the virus.

No hoarding up here either tho you can't find any sanitizer anywhere. Not that everyone is panicking, it's mostly the dairy farmers grabbing it up because they need it and don't want to run out before the supply catches back up with the demand. I went looking for Isopropyl alcohol to make my own spray sanitizer but seems all these darn homesteaders and preppers up here knew that the "vodka" thing didn't work and had the correct home recipe too. Oh well, wandered over to Wally's and happened to spot THE only quart bottle of gel hand sanitizer sitting all by itself amongst the large refill bottles of hand soap way up on the restock shelf. Not my first choice (I much prefer the spray) but better than nothing. I'm going to be doing a LOT of door knocking for the census the next few weeks and I'll need something anyway. I also just ordered another gallon of oxine before the city folks start looking for a "plan B" and deplete that supply too. I've got a little left but I have to sanitize the brooder side of the coop and all the chickie supplies this weekend ahead of new chicks hopefully being picked up Monday and then the major spring cleaning soon.

If you don't have to have the money .DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

I am good. This whole thing is crazy making for me... Now I am worried that we will run out of toilet paper.

Ben has pika and eats our tolit paper or throws the whole roll in the tolit. Can't leave it in the bath room ,have to hid it .We have always bought the big bundle .So a lot on hand . For you it should not be as bad .Can't imagine the virus likes the desert. But if it gets bad .I'll send you a roll or two.

Us Desert people use sand.... sand I tell ya... Boy was it an adventure trying to get the supplies together for Cleaning house at home. All the respirator masks were gone. Those two ear jobs that have a vent so you can breathe without getting Claustrophobia. Doctors masks too.

The N95s were gone gonner gonnest. I finally found one rated P100 and which is suitable for exposure to Hantavirus. Grabbed it up.

As to toilet paper... my oldest sister reminded me how the family 3 doors down, when we lived in Galveston, were too poor to ever buy toilet paper.

They had one bathroom, and the mom cut up rags for toilet paper.

There was 1 container for unused, and a second for used.

Not only that but she said when she lived in Austin, Texas, she knew some super rich people that did the EXACT same thing because it was more environmentally friendly.

Dont get me wrong I worry. But Life has to go on... And when under stress I get a little stupid and joke a bit. I cant help it.

Both my son and I have issues with mold and dust. It starts with a cough and ends up with Asthma and if not careful on to Bronchitis and with me Pneumonia... He hasnt been through that yet. With dust I mean The kind that floats around in the house Not dust as in blown in dirt.

But I dont remember the last time Mom or Grandma had the flu. Actually I dont remember either having had it over the years. That was before annual flu shots too. We are not a kissy huggy family either. Dads side All his sisters had TB and survived it Even spend months in hospital.

When Dad was tested for TB they said his body was so hyper vigilant for the disease that he should NOT get the TB vaccination. Dad was also allergic to penicillan. But then He never got sick. Colds yes but nothing major.

Sanatary napkins didnt use to exist, either. Rags were used and washed as well.

Chicks! Chicks! Chicks! I've got about 13 that hatched during the night - hoping I can figure out who's who. Some are under little plastic baskets because I knew it would be too difficult to tell those apart. The others should be more distinct...

We had our big "what's the school planning to do" meeting after school yesterday. Currently only one case of the virus in our county, so we're in a "wait and see" mode, but all activities outside the regular academic day have all been cancelled. I feel bad for our Senior high school students... No spring sports, no dances... And they'll probably always be known as the Coronavirus class.

by this bug .... I am side of Deb I cannot stress over it it could send me over a edge ...
I can know it in my heart but life goes on around it .. Our snow up left yesterday
was gone after my first trip to the coop

Well, appears I need to eat my words. Northwoods just became as crazy as the rest of the country. Went to the town to our north to pick up some Isopropyl alcohol to make some spray sanitizer to refill the little pump I always have in the car during flu season. Anyway, went into Wally's and the shelves were as cleaned off as the pics I had seen on the web. Any sanitizers or anything that could be used to make it or even any sort of wipe whether antibacterial or not, gone. I did manage to score a fresh bottle of peroxide only because it was hiding and I recognized the dark plastic bottle. Over to the grocery section. Just like they show on TV the entire aisle of tp and paper towels completely bare. Also many of the shelves of canned fruit and beans etc. were cleaned out as well. At least I only saw one fool with a cart full of bottled water so maybe there is still some hope up here yet.
