Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

So, DIL is in labor. Her water broke at 7:30 this morning. On Wed. at her OB appt, the Dr. cleared DS to be with her for labor, delivery and the 4 hours afterward, even though he has a cold. Cold is almost gone. Just a slight runny nose and some sneezing. Last night at 5:00, the hospital changed their policy to that anyone with any kind of symptoms will not be allowed in the OB. They were not aware of this policy until they got to the hospital this morning, were met at the door and DS was sent home. Fortunately, she was able have her mom come be with her. So my son is standing on a step-stool outside the hospital watching his wife in pain and feeling helpless because he can't go to her. It sucks. I feel bad for him and a little sorry for myself as we can't go meet our new grandson until who-knows-when.
Oh... bother.

-sigh-

Well, poo! :(
The small city to the north where I love to go thrift shopping etc. is mostly closed down of course but the wonderful natural foods grocer and a real TSC which is still allowed to operate so I thought I would sneak in to restock on Monday. Now that's not going to happen any time soon for 2 reasons. First the blizzard is now supposed to be the worst on Monday so travel wouldn't be too intelligent and second, it was on the news this morning that a worker at the only McDonalds (open for the drive up) had tested positive earlier in the week and they shut it down over night last night to sterilize the place. Doesn't mean much to us, we rarely do fast food but it does mean this kid was probably spreading the bug for who knows how long to a wide diversity of folks making it less than wise to shop anywhere in town .
That is so worrisome!

That would be nice!!

I had planned a first ever actual spend money on a trip to take, just myself and kid 2... plan to cancel it all in Monday...

I had been putting off canceling.... but it looks like travel this summer just isn't going to happen

All field trial activity - canceled.
Trip to California for grandson's graduation - canceled.
Easter with family - canceled.
My birthday trip to Chincoteague - ain't gonna happen
August trip to Germany - Oberammergau and the Passion Play - canceled
Thanksgiving and Christmas - :fl

On the bright side...

It’s fun coloring already naturally colored eggs because you never know how they’re going to turn out!

just got back from the house. Kitchen was gutted by the time I left. They said the rest of the floors will be done before they go.

I had them double check the thickness of the sub floor because one was worrying that the doors wouldnt shut if we got it built up too thick. I reminded them that the Carpet and padding were going to go that accounts for at least a half inch thickness.

He pulled up the sample and said the floors were two layers one of plywood and one with very nasty OSB. Circa 1984... He said it was quarter inch thick but I could see from twenty feet away it was more than a qquarter inch.. The older brother said something to him in spanish and he got out his measuring tape. Yep Half inch thick.

They had been having a devil of a time removing the linoleum. Now they dug a bit deeper and the OSB came up in very manageable chunks bringing the linoleum with it. The carpet is on top of the linoleum so this is all good.
