Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Another day!

Looky! Right there!! :eek: :eek::eek:
Where? It went by so fast I didn't hardly see it. I spent the day with a new 5 inch chainsaw I just bought, trimming branches that are always knocking my hat off when I mow. Had a big wind come through early Monday morning and blow down the largest oak tree on my property. It was probably what defined my place. Had many cook outs and party's under that tree over the last 32 years. It's nothing but firewood now. It will be missed.

It’s hard to lose those big old trees…

Sad!

Had it rotted, or some such?

When I lived in Texas... I had a huge water oak die... I had to get it taken out (power line ran right through it :oops: ) Anyway... tree guy told me the water oaks don't live as long as some oaks... wasn't anything I could have done.

Those live oaks can live for a century... but only if their branches don't grow odd, and cause a spot that wants to rot out. And all the ball moss that always wants to get them... if it isn't one thing, it is another!

Will you plant a new tree in its place?
