Welcome to our money pit ... New pics of our progress

Spoke with the mortgage company today.... they're letting us assume the mortgage payments, NOT demanding the amount in full...whew!!! That's one huge stress sorted out. I've been cleaning like a mad woman......

Here's the upstairs bedroom that they trashed..... just some big stuff to move out......

Wow, sorry about the whole mess you had to deal with. And for the passing of your FIL.

You are keeping that cute corner cabinet?? (Sorry, I have a thing for those corner cabinets)

I just came across this thread. I'm sorry to hear about everything your going through. I think the house will be beautiful once your finished cleanning and repairing. Its amazing what a little bit of elbow grease, sweat and love can do for a home. Please keep us updated on the homes progress and heres good thoughts sent your way!

Thanks ......

Yeah, we are going to use the corner cabinets for my knick knacks..... can you believe the lights above them still work!

Guitartists- Congrats! I am so glad things are coming together, even if it is slow. You def have a diamond in the rough there. That house seems to have so much character. You should be very proud of your hard work and preseverance. If I lived near you I would come over with my cleansers and rubber gloves and work right along side of you. Great job and keep us posted.

CONGRATULATIONS - That is exciting news and what I was hoping for. As a prior banker I know I certainly would have let you assume that mortgage rather than taking back the house that was over mortgaged and in such poor shape. Now just a lot of hard work and TLC and that home will be cottage picture perfect. I buy HUD homes, in poor condition, and go in and renovate them and you'd be surprised what elbow grease, a coat of paint, and a little wallpaper can do. Enjoy your new home - may you have many happy and blessed years in it.

How wonderfull for you that the bank is working with you.

As far as where the dogs rubbed there is a product at the $ tree called Awesome. That might work on that. Just spray on and watch the stuff just run off. Might take more than one cleaning with it but it works really good. Says it removes: blood stain, grease, wine, liquor, gum, oil, glue, coffee, pet stains, some inks, fresh paint, varnish, hair dye, food stains, grape juice, berry juice, and much more. It has no Acid, no ammonia, no bleach, non flammable.

Just thought I would share that with ya.

If there is ANYTHING left of the BIL belongings that is worth donating - don't trash it...donate it to whatever organization you can, and get a receipt. You could at least get a tax write off for the stuff you are getting rid of.

Good luck!
