0h cool, thanks a lot!

I only got chickens like a year and a half ago (fall 2015) so maybe it was the dog house? Large white one by a wooded area? Does that sound right?

I thought it might have been my dog haha
YES...that was it!

Hey Everyone!
Stopping by to say "Hi!"
I'm in North Alabama, just keeping a few hens as a small backyard flock. Currently have Americanas, Silkies, Welsummers and a Lone Polish.

Hi Michelle.
I'm in North AL (Arab) too. I only have ducks right, Khaki Campbells, Indian Runners, and Buffs for now, along with 2 French Toulouse geese and a few goats. Love my ducks!

Hi I'm really new at a lot of this. I have a question for you pro's I have 3 Rhode Island Red hens that are established layers, I feed them food for laying and oyster shells for the calcium, We have noticed that some of the eggs crack very easy when I rinse them off in warm water to use them also there isn't a lot of covering(bloom?) on the eggs, very clean eggs, wondered is that a normal thing and wondered if we are doing right on the feeding, I give them cabbage and carrots and there egg shells too. They run outside in a fenced off run for them so there safe. What do I need to do for them? Thanks alot
Welcome over!! Sounds like you are doing it right! Make sure the oyster shell is separate from their feed and free-choice. Also make sure 'treats' are only 5-10% of their intake

How old are they? It could be normal

I've been reading this outstanding site - the best of its kind - for several years for tips and perspectives. Finally had to join and share what I have learned from the School Of Hard Pecks. Thanks for making "Backyard Chickens".
