I have just checked the egg. It is about 12 hours post external pip and duckling has pierced the membrane directly under the shell, so there is a tiny whole there now.

Would you say that the duckling had made good progress?

Hows Jemima acting? It can take 24 -36 from internal pip to zip so hopefully the duckling is on track.
Any way you can find a newly hatch duckling as a friend for this one?
tiny hole in the shell? how long has it been there?

Jemima seems fine, she is just sitting there quietly, I have checked her every couple of hours. The hole in the membrane was not there at 11.00 am when I put the egg back, so has happened between that time and now.

I saw the star shape shattering at about 5 am this morning and she was chirping like crazy

Jemima is not hunkered down but seems to sitting taller if that makes sense.
