Welsummer or brown leghorn?

Downshifting~

The one that you say is looking a little roo-ish.......brace yourself........HE is! Don't know what he is but he's not a Welsummer.

Glad that I found this thread! I think now that I can almost certainly say that I have bantam brown leghorns. The verdict is out on pullet or roo though. Their color is similar to each other, but one is larger and a bit darker. When do the crazy bright colors start coming in on roos? Mine are just 2 months old.Anyone have pics of ones about the same age? These two are so much more slender and hold their tails out straight more than any of my other breeds.
And does anyone know how these bantams fair cold wise? I know combs/wattles can be an issue. What about just sheer lack of body mass? I have 10 gals all together in a 4x6 uninsulated coop w plenty of ventilation and an big thermal window. do I need to worry about the bantams being able to keep up their body heat or will the combined body heat of all hens be enough to get them through the winter? OK, i know it's just May, but trying to figure out ahead of time if i'm going to need to insulate the coop before winter.

Ok maybe y'all can give me some help. I bought an assortment of egg layers they said both Leghorn and Welsummer were in there but I can't figure these two out. They are 1month in this picture and are larger and fatter than the RiR and Australorp that are the same age. Who knows they maybe something else all together. Shug, this thread is super old.
Yours look like a red breed to me. Perhaps newhampshires or productions.
I am not good at doing screenshots to show you here but if you click on "what breed or gender" there will be a blue bar on the right for "post new thread". More folks will see your question if you start a new thread.

Not a Welsummer to me, her tail is too upright and too much black into her tail feathers. Her comb is OK but she does not have the type of a Welsummer at all. Not all Brown Leghorns got flopped over combs. White earlobes, they should never have them for Welsummers.

Here is the standard for the Welsummers:

PLUMAGE COLOUR
FEMALE
Head golden brown. Hackle golden brown or copper, the lower feathers with black striping and golden shaft. Breast rich chestnut red going well down to lower parts. Back and wing bow reddish brown, each feather stippled or peppered with black specks (i.e. partridge marking), shaft of feather showing lighter and very distinct. Wing bar chestnut brown; primaries, inner web black, outer brown; secondaries, outer web brown, coarsely stippled with black; inner web black, slightly peppered with brown. Abdomen and thighs brown with grey shading. Tail black, outer feathers pencilled with brown.

IN BOTH SEXES AND COLOURS
Beak yellow or horn. Eyes red. Comb, face, ear lobes and wattles bright red. Legs and feet yellow. Undercolour dark slate grey.

SERIOUS DEFECTS: Comb other than single or with side sprigs. White in lobe, excessive white in plumage. Feather on legs, hocks or between toes. Other than four toes. Striping in neck hackle or saddle of male. Absolutely black or whole red breast in the male. Salmon breast in the female. Legs other than yellow. Badly crooked or duck toes. Any body deformity. Coarseness, beefiness and anything which interferes with the productiveness and general utility of the breed.
MIght I have a guess on Nugget? In her 14th week.
