Went to the feedstore...only got 1.

I have until the 24th to stock up on feed and supplies before the Chick Season starts at my favorite feed store. Luckily, perhaps, the employees there know I'm hatching, and keep asking me about my TJs chicks, and they have promised not to bug me "unless we get something special in."

When I first told them I was hatching my own, the second thing store manager said was, "And how is that any different than buying straight run chicks - and with all the breeds, not just the bantams?" (The first thing was "This time of year?") He remembered when I bought my Sebrights, and then bought more, trying to get pullets. First two were cockerels, but the second two were the pullets I wanted.

So, after the 24th, I can only look, but not adopt.

::chuckles::

and I will be getting a few chicks *ahem* from that very same feed store the first week of March LOL!!!!

I want a Light Brahma, and maybe a Rhode Island Red or another layer type that they have. I am trying to avoid getting another Black Australorp or Barred Rock because I want to tell them apart LOL! But 4 chickens in an 8x8 coop is just SAD.

I have until March 5th (ish) to get a heat lamp, and shavings along with the chicks themselves LOL!

I just couldn't wait. I hatched one and wanted to get a little buddy.

I will have to be good now tho until I can find what I'm looking for. They are tough to come by breeds.

Wow you guys are so luck to be able to pick different breeds up at your feed store!

My feedstore gets chicks in the middle of March, but we are limited to red and black sex links, and then three types of table hybrid.

I'd love to be able to say... three brahmas, or three wyandottes please!
