Yes deer/car accidents are on the rise. I've lived all but 2 years of my life with lots of deer between me and work....well after driving more years than I'm willing to admit to I hit one.....but I hit it in an urban setting! Not even remotely suburban!!! The interstate...yes the interstate is fenced for miles, with concrete barriers too, a big rig is beside me a concrete barricade to my left and a big rig behind when a deer hops the divide and lands right in frount of me I started to stop and veer left then I rember the divide and here both big rigs lock their breaks....so I hit the deer at over 50 MPH with my 4 kids in the car asleep....No one is in the frount passenger seat 3 are in the rear, my stepson behind me....I put a small dent in the car and only broke the glass in the mirror....I actually had less damage than the big rig behind me....he also pulled over...told me he was very glad...pavement wet and he was not stopping and would have rearended us....so little damage I haven't even bothered to fix....I took black duct tape he had and the mirror from my cosmetic bag....and well thats my "redneck" passengerside mirror....really can't tell until you get close! I feel we were very lucky...glad I realized that the smallest thing I could hit was the deer (It was a big deer too....but they are a lot smaller than I Moose....those are very dangerous).
