I have a question for some more experienced that I. I candled last night and as I was putting several eggs back into the bator, one slipped out of my hand and hit another already in the bator. That one cracked (and of course, it was one that was viable, according to the candling). I left it in there - but I should probably throw it out? Has anyone had a cracked egg come to fruition?
I've read on several other threads where people have hatched from cracked eggs...
One of the popular ways of "fixing" the egg is melting candle wax and putting it on the egg, then remove the wax on day 18 (same day that you stop turning), that way the chick can get out easily.
The following link shows a picture of the wax method:
Well, I candled my eggs...some I am not sure of...so in a couple more days, I'll do it again. There were a couple that I know for sure weren't good. One of the turkey eggs are viable...woohoo!
Today I am on the 11th day...I think...LOL...I candled on the 25th...and the dark brown eggs, I have trouble seeing anything in those...So, I may candle again tonight or tom...see what I can see then...
