Agreed. I guess people don't realize what it is like to live in a very RURAL area.
For groceries we have two choices. We can shop at the
walmart 20 minutes away or we can pack an ice chest (necessary in the summer heat) and drive an hour away to the nearest town that has more than one grocery store.
We did have another grocery store in town, but it closed about a month ago. It was a nasty dirty store anyhow.
So
walmart it is.
On top of that, we've been living in the dark ages all day. The internet for the entire area went down this morning, came back up for a bit, went down again and just now came back up. Cell phones were also useless.
We went to
walmart late this afternoon to do our grocery shopping and it was a very frustrating experience.
Our store is completely controlled by computers at
walmart's home office in Bentonville, AR. The A/C, the computer system, the refrigeration compressors. When all the computers went down this morning, so did the compressors running the refrigerator cases at our
walmart. They had all the meat, dairy and frozen food cases blocked off and covered in brown paper trying to conserve the cold.
We have to go back tomorrow to try and finish our shopping.
