Is there anything I can use topically to temporarily replace the feather oil while I wait for the duck to preen itself back to normal? I have done the bath and blow dry, but the feathers still keep getting damp, he is in a heated coop, not with a heat light. It's been 5 degrees in the mornings the last few days, I just keep bringing him in and repeating the treatment, I'm thinking a natural oil like olive oil, but don't want to do anything harmful, any ideas would be appreciated.

here's a great article by majestic waterfowl sanctuary, scroll down to the oil gland article

What do you mean "repeating the treatment"? What is the treatment?
I hope you're not bathing your duck with any kind of soap more than once.
dont use any oil on your duck, especially olive oil. I used that once to get duct tape residue off off a ducks feathers, and even washed her with dawn dish soap after, but when she went back to the flock they all shunned her for several months because they can smell the oil, it was very sad

Thank you I will certainly look into this.

I used dawn only once, I bring him in and blow dry the feathers only, I haven't done anything else but add probiotics and massaging the oil duck gland and petting him he like that!! He seems to be eating better now and is keeping dryer at least on his back. He is being kept in a warmed coop with only access to drinking water until he is feathered.
