We've done a scary thing. Pics too.

Excellent tips! We don't have more than a seasonal mouse problem as I said. They never make it past the kitchen where we set most of the traps. However, we do get sugar ants if food is left out or things like cereal are left in their original containers. Over a period of time I invested in plastic containers for anything that mice or sugar ants would want to feast on that doesn't go in the fridge. Of course with my OCD I can't stand to leave food out or go to bed with even a single dirty dish in the sink.

I'm the same way. I absolutely cannot stand it. I really would freak about having an infestation such as the one described. I think I'd probably leave all of my belongings and move. Seriously. It would bother me that much.

And yes, I know mice are a country problem. I grew up on a farm...I know you're gonna have a mouse or two in the house once in awhile...But not THAT many mice.

here's an easy way to trap lots of mice. Get a 5 gallon bucket and fill it 2/3 full of water. Float black sunflower seeds on the surface of the water. Put the bucket in a place where mice frequent, with stuff next to it so the mice can get to the top edge of the bucket. They see the seeds, think it's a hard surface and jump in. They drown pretty quick. Each morning, scoop out the dead mice and set the trap back out. This works GREAT and costs almost nothing.

You might need to hire some professional exterminators to help you out......If they're in the walls, cupboards and such, you're right, you've got ALOT of mice! ICKY!

Cute kittens though....

OOOH, good inexpensive idea! I think I'll try that in my garage, where I occasionally see mice.....

I would need a lot of 5 gallon buckets. Last night no mouse sounds, and very little waste on the counters this morning. Go figure. It cannot have happened that fast.

Actually, one 5 gallon bucket will kill many more mice in a 24 hour period then two tiny kittens. The bucket is not likely to catch any deadly disease, nor would you have to have recurring vet bills with it. If money is really as tight as you say, the bucket with the water and the seeds is an extremely cost effective way to start combat your growing mouse problem.

Mice carry many diseases that will adversely effect you and your family, I would definitely start tackling the problem now before any humans get sick.

I agree. I'd try the buckets...because I'm sure you still have a very large infestation.

I'm gonna try the bucket tonight. I know we have at least 1 5 gallon bucket.
