I don't know. I think I'm kind of digging "Flying Wallenda", especially if he is a climber/jumper.

How about Austen, Bronte or Eyre for the pen chaser? Hemmingway, Dickens, Poe? Tolstoy? Kipling? I can go on and on and on...

Those kitties don't look old enough to be away from momma yet.

But if the guy was just a fraction as clueless as you thought, they're better off!

We needed a really good mouser replacement last summer. Our 10yr old #1 mouser (Josey) got chased off our property by a neighbors very unfriendly-to-kitties dog and got hit by a car and killed.

We have another kitty too (Smokey), but he's strictly an outdoor guy! We needed one that could be indoor/outdoor like Josey was. Usually, I head to the shelters for one, but this time I got one born mid-July out in the country from a friend-of-a-friend late September. He was the runt of the litter and I just wasn't quite sure if he'd cut it. He was such a little guy...

Named him "Tawnta Kitty". Within a day he had already caught one mouse and within the week he caught and killed three more! We were very impressed with him and remain so just over a year later. He's proven quite the hunter!! We have a pet rat and a pet mouse, but Tawnta knows not to bother them and he doesn't mess with our chickens either.

Ummm here's an idea no one has mentioned. You live in a rental and every rental I've lived in, it was the landlords job to pay for an exterminator to take care of the problem. Have you contacted them?

Invest in some cheap tupperware type stuff to put your food in so they don't get into it, put what you can in the refrigerator and buy only what you will use in the next few days.

I find it hard to believe that having two kittens for a few days would scare off that many mice.

I surely hope the little things don't get the disease the other cats had. Is there no vaccine for feline Parvo?
Just my opinion, but getting an animal to solve ANY kind of problem is never a good idea-once the problem is solved, the animal is still there, still an expense and still requires care.

Snap traps work better if you wrap some string around the bait pan and really work the peanut butter into it so they have to work to get it. You can also get a 'tin cat' which is a live trap for mice. I put them in areas the cats don't have access to like the basement. If I catch mice in one, I dump them into an empty garbage can in the barn and drop a cat in with them.

We got a cat from my SIL, Romeo was born in a barn but my SIL got him as soon as he was able to leave his mom. She said he was peeing in the house so she gave him to us. He was only about 4 months old at the time. Romeo is an excellent hunter. I don't think I have a cat that won't kill a mouse, and my barn cats kill rats, too.

An exterminator might be cheaper... if it was a one time deal. But more mice would probably move in.

Those are some adorable kittens, and I hope they stay healthy! You might want to look into worming them, too. Any chance the kittens are already trying to chase the mice?
