What’s In A Name?

The mysterious "azygous" means "not one of a pair". It's a medical term having to do with veins. I chose it long ago when I got my first computer and needed a user name. I figured the meaning was apt to my personal circumstances, since I'm a single entity.

I remember those things. I remember BBS door games and fidonet and pirating games on usenet. I remember my first shell box account. most importantly, I remember the first time I had this, though at the time it didn't mean as much as it has in the years since.

A root account nowadays means (almost) nothing anymore, i have plenty of those on virtual machines and they can always be overruled by the (now) almighty hyper-visor admin.
Meaning: Whatever you are doing as root, the admin can throw you out and shut down your machine and you are powerless…

Are you speaking in metaphor?

Or might this be a wink to the linux community?

I do miss usenet and telnetting.....
Telnet not so much, ssh is much better and safer, but the usenet 😭
There is still a usenet, but there are almost no providers where you can subscribe it.
