What’s the deal with you chicken people??

Pics
"Brahma" is the correct spelling for the breed you are thinking of. You had an extra "a" in the middle.
Ah ok I thought Brahama like The Bahamas but with an r lol. Me and breeds do not mix

A black Australorp, and we THINK brahama is that the spelling??
Cool. The black one in my picture is half Australorp, and the yellow chick, as well as a slightly different looking black one who isn’t in the picture, are half Easter Egg. They all have the same dad, my Plymouth Barred Rock.

I do not know of any serama-sized chickens with crests like that-- yet.
But if you are looking for a breeding project... :D
Not necessarily a breeding project. Sooner an illegal or expensive shopping project.

According to the Dutch Chickenencyclopedia the Appenzeller spitshauben and Brabanter do exist as bantams.

Btw: Bantam is Kriel in Dutch.

Oh, that's much easier. Someone just needs to get them imported, which is probably still cheaper than feeding & housing birds for a big long breeding project.

Maybe they could talk to Greenfire Farms, which has made quite a business of importing breeds from around the world and then selling chicks at very high prices. Their per-chick prices seem to be about 10 times as high as prices for more common chick breeds at other hatcheries, presumably to cover the cost of having imported those new breeds.

My broody Joannie and a couple of her eggs. She's my darkest layer. She's head hen and a super good momma, so I've got no worries with her.

The pic above was Angels first 18 eggs she laid.... Today I'm setting Angels eggs (have 12 collected) under Joannie.
I need more progeny from Kong x Angel, The 5 week olds that I hatched Easter Sunday, I only got 1 little pullet from Angel. I named this one Harmony, so if your still reading this, Harmony is my first and only grand baby. (F2) here. Must need more....🙂

The end result of all this story time is this.
With my Black Copper Marans, I'm breeding to better my flock towards the Marans standard of perfection but I also need to darken the eggs by only selecting my best birds to breed but also only hatch from my darkest layers. I'm fairly new to this and these are all test matings to see what Kong is producing.

Hindu god.
I just looked up Brahma history in wikipedia, and apparently they were named "Brahmapootra" at one time (for a river, presumably in turn named for the Hindu god), but later got shortened to plain "Brahma."

So Brahma sort-of works out to being another of those breeds named for a place (but not the place it really came from, since the breed as we know it was developed in the USA.)
