What age do barred rocks generally start laying?

I have 3 barred rock hens and they were hatched last year early May 2017 and they didn't start laying until end of December 2017. So they were around 30 weeks old I believe.

Here it is August 2018 and they still lay little pullet size eggs.

Mine aren't the greatest but maybe I got a bad strain or line.
Sounds like it.
That’s too bad.
BR lay a larger sized egg as far I know.
Are yours from a hatchery or breeder?
A lot of times breeders birds develop slower.
The eggs should get larger over time.

They came from a small hatchery.
Yes very slow growing lines.
I got one barred rock rooster from the same place same time/same age batch.
He was very slow growing too.
He didn't crow until he was 8 months old and died last June from a illness.
He was a little over a year old.

Oh I’m so sorry you lost your guy! :hugs

Finally, I believe my Barred Rock laid her first egg!
Was it really small....I have 12, there are 6 that I don't believe have started laying yet....I have never given any of them laying mesh. Is this a good time to start...I'm kinda new at this....I do have other chickens such as Ameraucaunas, Rhode Island Reds, some leghorns and a few other breeds that lay well
