Newborns or 2 to 3 weeks? We have an 18-month old so want them to be as friendly as possible, but we have an 18-month old so is getting them through the first few weeks worth the extra time/work?

I pondered about this same question, though our daughter is a bit older - we decided on newborns.
I am under the impression that the youngest chicks will quickly bond with your family.
Good luck with your decision!

This is a good related thread too:

I say it depends on the breed and the breeder. Chicks are more likely to be friendlier but I just don't have as much time as I used to to take care of them. I would personally get the 3 week olds. If you are getting local just go visit and see. I've been to breeders where the birds run up to me and are really friendly, and others where they run away and are skittish.
