I purchased a few you chicks from a lady that said she was un aware of what they were. Any ideas on what this one is?

It appears to be a silkie mix of some kind and I'm pretty sure it's a rooster. I love him btw!

That’s a silkie mix. The comb being straight is odd but everything else points to a silkie mix.

Mixed with what though, I’m not sure.

No. It would be pure black if it was.

You would be correct. This is a Silkie x Silver Spangled Spitzhauben. The silver spangling is a dominant trait.

Except that doesn't explain his straight comb. I'm not sure what comb type spitzhauben have but if I don't think either parent could be a pure silkie given the straight comb unless the silkie parent had an incorrect comb. Straight comb is recessive so both parents have to be carriers.

I'm thinking he's just a barnyard mix with a lot of silkie and spangled influence in the gene pool.
