Except that doesn't explain his straight comb. I'm not sure what comb type spitzhauben have but if I don't think either parent could be a pure silkie given the straight comb unless the silkie parent had an incorrect comb. Straight comb is recessive so both parents have to be carriers.

Hatchery birds will often carry 1 copy for single comb.

No that's from the silkie breed.

Many people swear that silkies are the gentlest roosters. Unless you just can't keep them in general, you may have a beautiful and gentle rooster which would be a major score. Especially if he turns out to be a good father & protector as well, which time will tell.

The meanest rooster I ever met was a silkie boy. He was the most hateful thing imaginable. He would beat himself bloody against the fence trying to get to a person... any person. Or dog, cat, squirrel...
