What animal is this?

This week I came out to let my hens out of their coop and found all these. They're shallow and don't look like tunnels to me. I can stick my finger in them and they're not an inch deep. Does anyone know what animal this might be? The other night I saw like 7 snails or slugs in their run so I didn't know if they might be making these holes?

To me, the individual holes look like mice, or even cicada holes (though too late in the year for them)

However, the long line of holes: https://www.backyardchickens.com/attachments/20231015_095317-jpg.3660124/
Look like where water drops come off of the roof edge above. Could that be it?

This is exactly my first thought. The long line of holes really looks like where water drops come off the edge of the roof. I get that exact same pattern around my coop, especially after heavy rain (or did, anyway, when it was more soil and less mulch). Is that a possibility at all?
