what are y'all saving from the wild to deal with coming crisis?

A sometimes derogatory name given to 'country folk' with their sunburned red necks from working in the outdoors. It is a term that I embrace and wear with honor.

I worked in a research environment with people with many degrees. Degrees do not amount to common sense and with scientists frequently lead to limited scope of vision. On my exit interview the only negative I shared was that the company tended to equate scientific capability with managerial ability and that most frequently they are contradictory.
So Sour, I guess I could be a redneck as well. Does it matter if you have a college degree?

He walked up to the bar and parked his lanky frame upon a tall bar stool, And with a long soft southern drawl said, "I'll just have a glass of anything that's cool." A barroom girl with hard and knowing eyes slowly looked him up and down, And she thought, "I wonder how on earth That country bumpkin found his way to town?". She said. "Hello, country bumpkin! How's the frost down on the pumpkin? I've seen some sights, but man, you're somethin', Where'd you come from country bumpkin?" It was just a short year later in a bed Of joy-filled tears, yet death-like pain, Into this wondrous world of many wonders One more wonder came; That same woman's face was wrapped up In a raptured look of love and tenderness, As she marvelled at the soft and warm, And cuddly boy child feeding at her breast. And she said,"Hello, country bumpkin, Fresh as frost down on the pumpkin; I've seen some sights, but babe you're somethin', Mama loves her country bumpkin"" Forty years of hard work later in a simple, quiet And peaceful country place, The heavy hand of time had not erased The raptured wonder from the woman's face; She was lying on her death-bed knowing fully well Her race was nearly run, But she softly smiled and looked into The sad eyes of her husband and her son. And she said,"So long, country bumpkin The frost is gone now from the pumpkin; I've seen some sights and life's been somethin' See you later, country bumpkin." And she said,"So long, country bumpkin The frost is gone now from the pumpkin; I've seen some sights and life's been somethin' See you later, country bumpkin."

Hmmm, going back to the original title as I haven't read all 66 pages, but eventually will as I am sure I have missed some nuggets of knowledge there. I would be saving myself some more heritage seeds. My heritage chickens need no further inputs or feed so there are my eggs. If I ordered heritage lentils well then I would have beans saved for life. I'm pretty sure my wife would enjoy having potatoes as well. So we need more work there on getting seed stocks. I can most assuredly grow pineapples where I live so there is an occasional treat for me. We need to learn how to cook prickly pear cactus and agave as there is another feed input we have here for life for the humankind. I need to find a heritage grain and corn to grown down here in 10A or else I would be forced to eat some of my dogs or use them for dog food. The cat doesn't need a thing from me to survive, but does get feed inputs at present. I need the end times to wait 5 more years so I still have a few more of lifes luxuries in the form of electricity to keep powering my tools, cooking my meals and potentially meeting my transport needs.

My wife reminds me that we also need more dry storage which today is easy to get for all of my desired grains and seeds. My mind was already running towards acquiring a fancy new 1000 dollar human powered grain mill(hehe thats me love my shiny things).

And your point is?

I remember reading about a drought that lasted seven years.

That's what came to mind when I was watching the Zarkova video, She mentioned that the governments of the world need to cooperate and store up food for their populaces while there's still time to get them through the little ice age she thinks is coming. That will never happen, and she admitted as much.

btw, I came across a dehydrated food supplier that sells non-GMO, no MSG, no HFCS, no trans fat, vegetarian food, and you can buy on subscription where you get a 20% discount and they send you whatever you want every 30-90 days. You can change what they send you and how often after you subscribe.
