what are y'all saving from the wild to deal with coming crisis?

We own 36 acres of land near the Grand Canyon and the only way to get water is to purchase it and store it underground. There is also a little snow and rain but none of it is drinkable for people. You have to separately purchase drinking water. It just wouldn’t be feasible to have horses and us and dogs there. It’s a great place to camp though and it’s beyond beautiful.
Back when I was looking for land I fell in love with that area.... But buying water like that changed my mind. It was near Williams. When I was having issues with my well I was dependant on what my storage tank could give us... 3000 gallons was decent... for me one horse three goats one dog and about thirty chickens...

I don't water anything other than livestock.... If it doesn't survive on what rainfall there it doesn't belong.

I lost a pear and a fig tree in the beginning year... The rest are still going happily along. the well has been sorted... Partially my ignorance and the ignorance of the people that owned the property before. Wrong setup for a low procuing well. I finally got a hold of the original Man who drill ed it and he explained the issue... Dead pump replaced lower volume pump installed New pumpsaver switch and revamping the pressure tanks. All is good. Up at the house I need to redo the feed for the house.... but thats going to take money a new storage tank and replumbing the booster pump at the storage tanks.

I want the new storage tank to have an overflow that will fill the old storage tank. The new storage tank will be Clean and the will pipes will be sterilized before putting water in that tank.

Any wayy thats a long time down the road.

You know that song by Hank Williams Jr “A Country Boy Can Survive” We know how to can, store and jerky and I don’t know about everyone else but I believe in God and him taking care of things.
That's a good belief but humans can screw up anything, no matter what God does. That's why humans were given free will, to choose to do the right thing or the wrong thing.

IMHO, our biggest danger is overpopulation. We've already surpassed the carrying capacity of the planet.

IF everyone ate the good foods they should, vegetables, fruits in season, fish, etc. rather than chips, candy and other junk foods, there wouldn't be enough to feed the global population.

We’ll probably be eating the carcasses if there are any around. I thought about winter feeding in truly dire circumstances and decided the birds will eat whatever we are eating if we can find anything to eat. The layers will be the last to go.
Someone talked earlier about bone broth. That will help with foraged additions.
Have thought about all of this for some time and know we are not really prepared. Water is critical.
Agreed on the water. I need a well drilled well before going solar. So free myself from the water company before the grid even though water is cheaper than power. It seems counterintuitive from a financial perspective. Then again thinking I can live on money when it isn't food is on the same order of insanity.

I don't plan on saving anything from the wild but I do still plan on stocking up on heritage veggie seeds, and the greenjays they for sure belong to the wild and will follow me anywhere for the sorghum seed alone.

Forgive my ignorance here as I'm no Atmospheric Dynamacist as per a post prior to this one someone mentioned CH4 methane absorbed IR. I had read and/or believed IR was one part of the electromagnetic spectrum that passed through our atmosphere completely unhindered into the cold of space. If I am correct in what I posit how could methane absorb it?

Late Edit: glad I was wrong and @HenOnAJuneBug wasn't as I live in Deep South Texas and like going out at night in my shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt. I'd hate to turn into an icecicle as would happen if I were right!

Methane, CO2 and water vapor absorb, then emit certain wavelengths of IR. So they impede that energy's escape to space. Water vapor has the strongest effect by far.

You have to have decent elevation difference for a ram pump to work. OK's pretty flat, isn't it?

Parts of it. If i lived 5 miles up the road A ram pump would work perfectly. Eastern Ok is quite hilly and even Mountain(ous) in the south east in spots.

Ram pumps don't require much elevation. Just enough to get the water headed that way and through the 1st check valve.

my water comes from a well that is a thousand feet from my house.... Two check valves per line keeps the water flowing. and eases the pressure on the pressure tanks

my water line is 1.5 inches diameter up to where it splits off at the water tank. I found all the shut off valves and there are five.... Buried under the ground and covered with a pallet. I need to officially uncover it and build a box to keep the dirt and weeds from taking it over.... I can tell definately where two of the lines go... One for the house and one for the Big Tank.

I suspect the third one was to a motor home .... but cant find the outlet... the fourth may be un ocupied...

The booster pump on the big tank only supplies a fire hose fitting and all the water for the hose bibs in the yard.... REally Really good pressure... for that... and Heck I even wired it in.

Soon as I get the breaker box sorted out I will be able to run another pump on the new tank.... I also hope to get a whole house filter installed too. The water can be very sandy and rotten eggy smelling... Not harmful only bacteria in the lines. they need to be bleached as well.

First order though.... Get the Wiring in the house sorted.... Half of it is dead and I am afraid there is a short in the walls....

you could elevate the pipe with a wood structure... to get the flow satrted...
