what are y'all saving from the wild to deal with coming crisis?

Yeah, I've figured as much. But uh, farming is a ton of work and I am...ahem...lazy. I am going to keep those little guys employed as long as possible. :lau
lmao, i understand. Luckily, as we are the chicken herders of our area, maybe you could trade pollination labor for eggs?? i mean, probably be worth it. youd get other foods from the pollination efforts, so its really a win win. I mean, man, even talking about having to potentially go out an pollinate because there are no bees left (or not many left) is pretty depressing.
lets just "save the bees" ;) i agree :highfive:

Our chickens could free range to fullness but most likely the heat will get us all here. That and storms. We are a spoiled people. Right now those Doves stealing my chickens feed are looking rather tasty. They will be on the menu. So pellets for the riffle... sure my chickens wouldn't have a problem eating them either. I'll use my horses for transportation. Unless the only thing man saves is the thing that kills him.
More importantly... what are we all doing to lessen our carbon footprint and influence others? Must be REALLY difficult in certain parts of the country where the weather seems fine today. Don't think my parents would replace my car if I thoughtlessly drove it into a wall... so maybe God/higher power wants us to deal and take care of what he/she has given us... like this beautiful and amazing miracle of a planet. Just a thought.... :hmm
GREAT TOPIC!!!

And eat less but higher quality, more local meat.

Anyone who hasn't tried the beyond burger yet needs to, they've gotten delicious and they sell them at a bunch of chains now. :drool Don't tell the cows, but I actually prefer them. When you grill 'em they get delicious and crispy.

Although, on that note, I couldn't figure out why I'd felt so crappy lately, and its because my iron had gotten so low from cutting out so much red meat all at once. Remember to balance your diets as you change them!

Storing a year's worth of food back is just good sense regardless of why people might be concerned. Might lose the breadwinner or a breadwinner in the family, someone laid off, slow business if self employed, and yes the flooding we saw this spring is going to raise feed prices and thus food prices. I remember back in the late eighties feed prices soared for some reason and the chicken farms were advertising on the radio to come pick up your free chickens, from chick size to nearly half grown. I got an 18' long flat bed trailer full of the darned things for free. Standing room only. LOL

And learning about what wild foods might be used is a great idea even in good times if you have more time than money. I always thought fishing for trash fish like gar and carp would be a great idea for both chicken feed and dog feed, pressure can it, bones ought to be nearly jelly.

But this so called "climate change" was pushed on us in the eighties but society had enough since to call it quackery while they called it "global cooling". Then it became "global warming" and the science didn't back up their claims so they re branded it as "climate change".

The reality is that it is all propaganda designed to stampede people into supporting radical agendas, eliminating the raising of animals for food, forcing Agenda 21 type population clearances by forcing people off the rural land and back into cities. I used to run a volunteer fire department in Arkansas and we were trained at the state fire academy to save every building we could. These days the rural fire departments in my state are told not to fight the fire for safety reasons and just prevent the fire from spreading. I have literally been told this by folks who lost a home over a small kitchen fire that could have been put out.

So I wouldn't worry about what the mainstream media is saying. They are just pushing an agenda and are not trustworthy at all. There are people that believe this with all their heart because they have been terrified into thinking a disaster is sure to come. Same thing with Y2K, someone could make money or make hay politically so they helped push the panic while industry and government made the changes to the software to prevent problems.

So calm people, calm. Prepare is good, panic is silly, giving away your child's birthright to a thriving society, the ability to raise some backyard chickens, and to live in the country is not a smart idea.

You are dead on!
I recall the late 70's and early 80's when a valid concern was saving the rain forest, the everglades and demanding that new developments and cities maintained green areas ( trees ). A decade later they had advanced from cloud seeding and required the finances ( taxes ) to continue their attempts to play GOD and manipulate the weather. Foolishly believing that altering one region wouldn't have impact on another or maybe knowing it could be weaponized. As other nations became aware of the U.S. abilities, they followed suit. The U.N. claimed head of this marketing task, as leaked memos have exposed, with the intention, initially, to eradicate desert regions proliferating the mid east and Africa. Then they realized how profitable an endeavor it was and how gullible people were. As you stated, it started as global cooling, but it didn't get colder, then it was changed to global warming, but as I stated, according to the IPCC ( U.N. International Panel on Climate Change ) since 1992 there was no consistent rise, and people were starting to notice, then they changed the title to Climate Change, as that could be anything right? Easy sell. I recall VP Al Gore claiming that all US coastal regions would be under water in a decade as the arctic/antarctic were in full melt, with full confidence and conviction. Telling Americans to give up their combustable engines, until it became public knowledge that he lived in a 32,000 square foot home, evidence was provided how the lights were left on in almost all rooms even though no one was home, about his yacht and then that while touring to promote this agenda he was flying alone on a 747 ( a common practice of the elite climate change supporters ). Pretty much the same rhetoric we are hearing from so many political personalities with the chicken little " we are all dead in 12 years if we don't act now". You have those that state science agree that the earth is warming and I ask really? Would that be the scientist that receive grant money from the government for providing "evidence" to promote their money grabbing or financial distribution agenda? Or the ones , like NOAA and most others, who have been outed for manipulating their data for almost a decade? The understanding and knowledge of what mother nature does on her own is missed by many. People claim CO2 is killing us all, really? Those people have no idea that plants, trees grass and crops absorb and filter it and give us oxygen in return. Like they have no idea that the Everglades filter toxicities for the worlds oceans through via the global currents. Makes you wonder how good art, sports and music were in school for them.

If there was truly a NATURAL concern wouldn't the government be paying people to plant rather than paying them not to farm? Wouldn't they place public emphasis on the need to mandate larger green spaces? Wouldn't they mandate WHITE roofs, that would reflect solar radiation, in new and replacements, rather than the black ones we have? What about building earth sheltered? They can't promote those things and still collect every dollar we earn to eradicate a scam. Geez, I wonder how the air clears after volcanic eruptions. I am certain the government or U.N. rushes out to cover it with some filter before it does as did early man when the buffalo and animal life farted the Ice Age into existence. I wonder what early man did to cause the break up of Pangea.

If climate change supporters wanted to champion something that would offer the earth healing they would demand their governments require 20% green space for every residence and commercial structure, stop selling old farms to foreign governments and offer property tax repreive if the plant forest and maintain the land in that manner, they would grow fruit trees, plant gardens, demand rain water collection ( illegal in many states) , grey water reuse ( illegal in many states ), demand that the water consuming "golf course lawns" across this nation be replaced with native grasses and finally demand the end to all government weather manipulation. Then they would be doing something worthwhile and helpful! Recycling, not falling into the disposable society group, where buy cheap and throw it away is the way, being conscientious of using water efficiently isn't something people should be patting themselves on the back for, it is something responsible people do, knowing things change and you can always find yourself short. This is the way of the old. They knew to anticipate drought and not to drain the well dry, don't take more than you needed, if you had extra share. These are living standards of responsible people, not agenda of the government or others!

Needless to say, I am with you on back up supplies. The government says three days, but I have seen how long it took them to respond and offer assistance after Hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Irma, the recent flooding in the mid eastern states and the over flowing of the Mississippi River in 1993. But then, I am one of those that believes they want us corraled, eating monsanto and being grateful that they take care of us.
I prefer homesteading and taking care of myself!

#1 thing we all can do (if in U.S., anyways)....relentlessly hound our climate-change-denying, big-money-loyal congressmen. Mine hates me :D

I've begun line drying everything, and am sneaking LED bulbs into my mother's house one by one every time I visit. :gig
Right on!!! That gives me great hope!! We, the people!!!
Honestly, I have been a reuser, reducer and recycler my entire life (my mom is too) and have done my best to pass on to my kids. (It is planted somewhere right?!!) We have solar, PV, energy efficient everything, no A/C, no heater, no drier, tiny home, garden out back, fruit trees.. used everything... pretty much, no chemicals (for the most part), cloth napkins, no paper, canteens and filtered water and only drive when need to and fro, multi task each trip. I call usually to compliment our senate and congress but may call and harass anothers ;)...
But what the heck is up with the plastic!!! (I don't purchase zip locks etc.) Plastic is wrapping everything and flying around everywhere!!! Super Yuck!!!! This is ridiculous and has to stop ASAP.

are we really worried about global warming or climate change?
Count on our government to help (again), Google:
Brush Mountain, VA, USA Eugenics
Here is what was #1 with my search
https://waragainsttheweak.com/index.php?page=50128
no more population problems with Uncle Sam in control
Why were we so slow in entering WWII?

Whole seeds preserve their food value longer, chickens can digest whole seeds.
if you free range they find grit as well as seeds we don't notice.

Apparently some are. I am not.
I am concerned about government manipulation of the weather, monsanto buying up all the seed companies and telling us we don't need seeds that sprout as we can buy again next year/that they have engineered the non reproductive seeds to grow bigger crops, the fact that the Gates Foundation provides vaccines globally, while Bill Gates himself has professed publicly that he agrees with the global depopulation estimates of the Georgia Guide Stones ( maybe that is why Indonesia and Kenya threw his people out after finding most of children given his free vaccine were determined to be sterile and many died), I am concerned that our government offers a different vaccine for our children if they are from medicaid/non insurance homes than that given to the privately insured ( FACT ), that it is illegal in many states to harvest the rain water that falls upon the roof, that it is illegal in most states to collect your grey water and re use it, that one is mandated to tie into a water service that is often scrubbed sewage and returned to you with many toxins in it ( while they tell you the toxins are in acceptable levels) if you reside within boundaries, that it is illegal to have a water well that the government doesn't know about ( old unreported wells undocumented can result in jail time ) or professionally drill one without government authorization ( the well driller pays the government to be able to do his job and they want you to pay to let him do his job), that in many states/counties it is illegal to be off the grid, that the NDAA says if the government chooses to ( no determinate required ) they can come on your private property and claim your food supplies ( over 3 days ), your garden, your livestock and your home ( but then you bought the lease ( oh you thought you owned it? That's cute) and must pay property taxes as annual rent ). There are many things that concern me, the marketing scam of climate change is not one of them.

Law of Non-contradiction
Something and its opposite can not both be true at the same time in the same sense.

It is possible to think that a lie is truth.

If we look carefully we might find a scientist that thinks "global warming" happens and another scientist who thinks that the data is flawed or a normal cycle is happening.

I met a guy on a backpacking trip who said that he could find something in my pack that I did not need and make my pack lighter. He never realized that I could do the same with his pack.

I find it interesting that no one mentioned walking toward the equator until winter heating is no longer required and insects live year-round to feed the flock. I forgot that I will not have a way to kill the parasites that will kill my chickens. Maybe I could cure the problem with suicide, we are already killing our unborn. :caf

Please do no talk of suicide even facetiously. You are too valuable to waste your life that way.

I like that even though many of us have different ideas about what will cause hardship down the road we can all seem to agree that the solution is to take good care of ourself, our land, and our neighbors, and learn to regain independence and self-sufficiency.

(I agree that let's not drag abortion and suicide into this, feels a bit off topic, eh?)
