Had not heard of the Beyond Burger, where can I get one? If your iron is low, try putting spinach on your burger instead of lettuce, and eating beans a couple times a week. Taco Tuesday with sides of Spanish Brown rice and Pinto Beans, yum!
I belive that Burger King has added the Beyond Burger to its menu.

With regard to iron.. there are many places you can get it. Fresh uncooked spinach is minearally rich but un digestable for its mineral content. It needs to be cooked a bit or wilted with a fat like butter or bacon grease....

OK quick research on the info I thought I knew above.... I am wrong to a point.

Iron can be obtained from an unusual source and that is from your Cast iron skillet.
Yep good ole cast iron will impart just a tad bit of Iron into your food.

Guns and ammo to guard your water and to hunt! Hunting will provide food for both you and your flock!

A book about wild edibles. There is a lot in nature we take for granted. Weeds and wild plants are a wonderful source of nutrition and can be very tasty!

This is the plan for everyone and their brother. Most humans don't even process their own food. So a lot of people are going to die. Unless they learn now.

There won't be anything to eat eventually, then what?

AMEN!! Thank You!
Also, there are programs that "pay farmers not to farm" that is true. But research why. Dust bowl anyone? There are valid reasons for certain programs. Each has very strict guidelines. And NO, I am not in any of them. I do however have a good grasp on modern farming and agriculture.
I read a book about Quanah Parker and his Comanches fighting our government. We defeated them with technology (Revolver) and food supply (killing the Buffalo).

"paying the farmer" is a way to keep our farmers in business and I can see two sides to this coin after reading about the Comanche starvation. I agree that we should have ended the tobacco subsidy sooner but supporting the family farm has some merit, the loss of our food is what this thread is about.

Let us be patient with each member of BYC as we struggle to see both sides of every post.
We need to try and see each posted entry and every news program as an attempt to persuade, sometime to a better point of view sometimes to an incorrect and misguided agenda.

Sometimes an attempt to solve a problem that is to complex for my feeble mind.:caf:old

Oh, I agree. I do believe the governments and news keep is wrapped up in agendas. I am not here to sway anyone my way or any other way.

Though I do not agree with some theories or why or how things are going down hill...I do agree they are.

What I do agree with is that getting SO far away from the old ways is a horrible tragedy. I've seen the posts on social media from people who don't even realize where their food came from or what it is. Our youth is being programmed and deprogrammed at the same time. THEY do not stand a chance if things go backward in a tragic event of any kind.

My comment about paying farmers is because it was brought up earlier in this thread. I should have quoted it I guess. It was meant to help someone become curious and research why we pay farmers not to farm. That's all.

I am patient and am truly enjoying this thread. Very good ideas for any time....not just crisis times.

I will also step back now and watch. I didn't come here to argue.
Sorry to anyone I may have offended.

I second the cast iron and/or alternative sources of iron for the body (or other minerals!)
I have a blood disorder. Years of debilitating hospitalizations after contracting an illness normal bodies could just fight off, and only being physically harmed by the artificial iron supplements pushed on me, started to do my own dang research.
I was also horrified to be told "oh, your gallbladder is inflamed, your spleen is what kills the red blood cells, I recommend removal of both."
Holy unnecessary and likely would have been a catastrophic mistake!

Cast iron pan is the best $25 I ever spent on my health.
Don't underestimate "the old ways" of doing things.
