what are y'all saving from the wild to deal with coming crisis?

Why is the media lying? Have they been lying forever or is it a recent phenomenon?

I have to say that you live with a level of paranoia that would make me run screaming through the streets.
My opinion: the media has always lied to some extent, but recently ( as in the last decade or so) the media has become more political, as in leaning one direction or another. I try to get news from multiple sources, American and foreign, and form my own opinions. Well except for one particular news channel, which I would never watch lol.

Same here I do dig deep to try to get the real story as well. Kudos. Never take anything at face value unless you directly observed the event.

I feel like so many Americans have forgotten lessons from 6th grade to always use their critical thinking skills and evaluate their sources.

As a former American soldier I was sent to Iraq based on a pack of lies and to me my statement doesn't represent "paranoia". I did however believe the media going in to this and that it was a just war. Today not so much. The Chilcot Report and cables between our President at the time and the British Prime Minister accurately represent the lies we were sold to go to war

.

Now I understand your point of view better. We definitely did go to war based on lies. I don’t know if you remember Valerie Plame but there is someone who lost a great deal for telling the truth. But how do we know now that they were lies.? The media. It’s not a journalists job to create the news but to report it. I’m watch the msm every day and I look at international media as well and I think about it. I look up other credible sources.

Thank you for sharing a more personal point of view. ( btw
I watched the same programs before the war and opposed it. Others watched the same shows and believed. I’m into critical thinking too, I guess.

What does that have to do with veganism? You can buy the items that are listed on the food pyramid from small sources at farm markets, online etc.
  1. Well if you take away all the animal products then the pyramid becomes relevant to vegans. My issue with it is that the only bigAg products that aren't represented on the pyramid are pure cane sugar and corn syrup. The pyramid to me is a false construct meant to advance numerous financial interests vs promotion of public health interests. I do not know if I replied twice to this post but I am getting on up there in years so just might have.

I turn to CNN, FOX, and MSNBC for news and instead they function as an extension of the American State Department. They do accurately report train wrecks, airplane disasters, and earthquakes. That is why I refer to them as the "Lying press" or media. My influencer here for sure is not #45. I would replace your use of "paranoia" with the phrase "critical thinking skills" I am highly accurate in reading the headlines and knowing our domestic and foreign policy goals.

It is always the same playbook used to ensure profits for American Industry and has been used over and over again ad nauseaum, brutal dictator oppressing their own people(sure he might or might not be democratically elected) to justify our intervention, first come the sanctions, regardless of how many innocent civilians are deprived the basic necessities of life. You see this in Libya, Venezuela, Iran(1950's), yada yada yada to many nations to even count. Follow the money and see who profits is all I can tell you, or read pretty much any book written by Chomsky, Chris Hedges or so many others. Lets just go back ask did the concerns of the United Fruit Company really matter to the American people in general? We just liked cheap bananas and they liked their profits and did it really matter who got hurt in the process?

.
I had referenced Chomsky in this post and lucky me! Democracy Now ran a 1 hour program covering him yesterday. To me he is a great statesman who tells the truth and a personal hero for my altruistic streak.

Enjoy him if you like :bow:wee:wee:frow

You don't have to claim that you are a redneck.
I like to talk like a cowboy but I suck at riding horses and never once visited a Cowboy Church event. I live south of every major US Highway but north of the proposed wall, now I'm confused. I don't speak Spanish but that is due to my limited abilities to be bilingual and I am afraid to lose my German language skills. Man I sound like a hot mess @Texas Kiki help me with my identity crisis too!:bow

Well I certainly think someone who wants to be vegan can figure it out. It takes strength of will and thought to go against the mainstream. Let’s face it,too, the food pyramid is not the influence on most that screaming bags and boxes of junk food are on the average family at the grocery store. What I believe about big food is that they pander to ones cravings so you’ll buy again. But seek out a farmers market and you’ll become rapt with the sights and scents. I may have answered you twice. I’m that age too.

My wife and I have been watching Maverick and Cheyenne but we couldn't take Paladin, my legs are bowed, I took Texas government in College, I admire Audie Murphy, I know what "caca" means in Espanol. German language skills are good, didn't they settle south of Corpus? I remember the name of my seventh grade Texas History teacher, Mrs. Kenas. The school she taught in was named after Jim Bowie. Alas I live in Missouri :hit
