Once settled into our nee home I will be getting ducks again! Can't quite decide what type, but definetly not pekins (no hate on pekins, they just send me broke with their feed consumption) and too many runners around here carry the crested gene. Maybe some cute crossbreds

I’m waiting for my trusty mama to go broody so I can give her some day olds to raise for me to eat. My permanent flock is at capacity, so until somebody dies, any new additions will be for meat only. I’ll get a mixed bunch from the feed store (I don’t like cornish x) so it will be exciting watching them grow!

I am hatching Jubilee Orpington eggs from my own flock.
I have 1 Jubilee Orpington rooster and only 2 Jubilee Orpington hens.
So it's going to be hard to get a dozen or so collected within the 10 day window before the stored hatching eggs lose their hatchability.
But my goal is to hatch as many as I can this summer to build a breeding flock.

My first time broody Serama recently hatched her own single chick. And, I helped her out (she’s a teeny A-class) with filling an incubator of her eggs and from two other sets of parents. I’ll have 16 (parents included) moving into their own building soon.
