That sounds delicious!

It is the bread we like the best! Here is the recipe.

Sourdough Applesauce Bread
1 package yeast
¼ c warm water
1 c sourdough
¼ c oil
½ c brown sugar
1 ½ c applesauce
1 tbsp salt
1 c hot water
3 c whole wheat flour
¼ tsp baking soda
3 – 4 c flour

Mix together yeast and warm water. In large mixing bowl combine sourdough, oil, brown sugar, applesauce, salt, hot water, whole wheat flour, and baking soda. Mix well. Let stand for 10 min. Stir in yeast mixture. Gradually add flour as needed to make a moderately stiff dough. Turn onto floured board and knead for 10 min. adding more flour as necessary. Place in a greased bowl. Cover and set in a warm place. Let rise 1 to 2 hours or until double in size. Punch down dough and shape into loaves. Place in greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise until double. Bake at 350 F for 35 to 45 min. Brush with melted butter. Makes 2 very large loaves. (I double the recipe and make 6 loaves at once)

Cindy, I posted the starter recipe at post #118 And horsejody posted it with several variations in post 119. ArabiansR2Cool also had a thread with the basic starter directions titled Friendship Bread. I think these links will give everything you're looking for. But if not, let me know.

Thanks for visiting our website!

Speaking of strawberries... I made the YUMMIEST strawberries & cream for thanksgiving dessert! Of course, strawberries from my garden that I froze for a time just like this.

1 pint Whipping Cream (beat till stiff peaks)
1 can Condensed Milk
1 cup Strawberry Sauce (made earlier in the season... strawberries, sugar, mash a little and heat until combined & a little thick)

and then as many whole & halved strawberries as you would like to see.. I used about a cup & a half...

Combine the first three in a blender/mixer, then fold in the whole/half strawberries.

FREEZE until solid. It's like ice cream but stays frozen for a LONG time

YUMMMMMMMMY!!!

I put some in a cinnamon graham cracker crust and the rest we just ate out of tiny little bathroom cups... that's about all you can take of this sweet goodness.

Thank you! I can't wait to try it. When you say 1 c sourdough, do you mean sourdough starter? Can I buy this or do I need to make a starter? I've never tried this.
