Can anyone tell me before I ruin an entire batch and most of the afternoon trying it????????

Since no one seems to have tried yet with Gumps I guess you are going to have to experiment and let us know. Just know that the more sugar a liquid has the more carbon dioxide the yeast will produce, making the bread more airy. I can't imagine this would be a bad thing (IMO). Gumps bread is not a tender dough but this change might make it more tender. If it works for you I am going to try buttermilk.

Elizabethbinary have you substituted milk on yeast breads or just quick breads?

If you use my Mississippi Mud brownie recipe....uses 4 eggs a batch so I always make a 9x13 pan makes two batches which of course is 8 eggs. Here is the link.....

You could make quiche too....I usually make 2 when I make it. You can freeze slices to eat later.

My eggs are limited around here....they girls are not laying worth anything here lately.

Thank you I will try it. I sent this batch of brownies off with my husband for the missionaries he going out visiting teaching with.. Will make your brownies for us.. I have also wanted to make a fritta or quich but haven't tried them yet..

I really got frisky just a few minutes ago and ground up a 4 lb bag of pop corn into corn meal.. took a bag of it over to the neighbors with a loaf of the pound cake and 1/2 dozen duck eggs ( her hubby loves the duck eggs)..

I'm working on a pot of vegetable beef soup for supper tonight and will try the ground pop corn meal in cornbread tonight.
I was able to get a 4 lb bag of pop corn at grocery a while back.. It ground up into 13 cups of meal.. it only cost me about 2.00 to 2.50 for the bag.. I marked it an put in ziplog freezer bag and placed in freezer

Oh go for it then featherbaby! Your only real concern would be how the yeast would react.

I have split the gump bread recipe by doing 1/2 milk and 1/2 water, I use honey instead of sugar and half the flour I use is Wheat.

I can't leave well enough alone!
