Hi All! I just found this thread and am so excited that others love to bake like me!
These days I most bake a lot of bread. I bet myself that I wouldn't buy bread for 3 months and I am almost to the 3 month mark! It was the easiest challenge in the world, I am never buying bread again!! It just tastes so much better when its homemade, and its cheaper. I do have a bread maker that I use to mix the dough then make it into the loaf, rolls, ect. Is this completely cheating
oh well
Right now I am addicted to cheddar and jalapeno (sp?) bread. yummm.
I snuck a loaf of today's homemade Sourdough out of the breads I baked for the farmers market to go with tonight's supper.
And here's the kabobs, ready for the grill. DH is out there now grilling them up. I'm off to the kitchen to finish the cabbage. Late supper - happens a lot here on Friday nights.

Yes, winter onions. We planted them in the Fall from typical onion sets. They over-wintered and then sprouted in late Feb. The weather has warmed up here for the past 2 1/2 weeks - so they shot up. They're quite mild/sweet.
I too have been baking bread and short bread cookies ,
but just not any bread, Its Gumpsgirls Bread. and its the best.
Maybe I should get a bread maker, and could work both the oven and the maker.
More for the family in quick time.
I made "Gump" bread again tonight. Generally, I like the crumb of the recipe, but I wanted it in a loaf pan. Tonight, I think I let it rise too long for the first rise. I was getting dinner on the table, and let the dough rise for at least an hour, if not more. It looks nice in the loaf, but it's not very big.
I made half the recipe in the loaf pan and stuffed the rest. I have to say that I think I'll stick to my King Arthur Flour baguette recipe for stuffing. I just like the way it comes out.
edited to say: Tonight, the stuffed Gump bread didn't look too pretty, but it really did come out good. I cut the dough (whole recipe) in half, and made one loaf of bread and three stuffed sandwiches. I layered ham, provolone, salami and roasted red peppers. When I stuffed the baguette bread I used sausage and peppers. My husband said it was the best sausage bread he's had. It's hard to compare the two bread recipes, as the baguette recipe is more like the Italian bread that we're used to. I have to try the same filling with the two bread recipes before I make a definite decision.
