What are you baking now?

Man what a flop of weekend baking

- Was really proud of all I got done yesterday and then the test taste began and things were just off. Made Whole Wheat bread and hamburger buns. Got going on something else and the dough rose too much - but bread is still good- hamburger buns were a little more tough.

Then made yogurt and went all out and bought RAW milk at $4.39 a quart

to see if it made it better. After 6 hours didn't even set!

Don't think my culture is that old but may be need some new. Then on to homemade mustard - had on burgers for dinner and not much flavor - not sure what happen there since I have made before and it was great - may be my husband sacrificed the wrong beer-

- used a White Hawk IPA when I wanted the Red Tail but that's one of his favorites. Then lets see what else - Oh yeah! the bran muffins were good but may be too many sunflowers in the mix - but still edible.

After posting this it sounds like I'm not a good cook at all - but I swear it was just an off day - trying to do too many things at once as usual. Didn't even manage to mow the lawn this weekend and I always get that done. Oh well, an excuse to practice more.

anyone who has read your posts knows you are an awesome cook! We all have days like that.

I was baking all the goodies for Easter and I was disappointed with all but one. I actually threw out the carrot cake (some to the chickens) it didn't set in the center and burned around the edges. That was my "off" day. (although I still blame the weather, humidity and everything else

It happens to all of us. Best thing to do is take a week off, relax and you'll get your groove back!

That's why I love it here - everyone is so supportive and understanding!! The week off sounds like a good idea since there is a lot of garden things I need to get planted since I spent so much time in the kitchen practicing. My only problem right now is the darn mosquitoes - They eat me a live. I went outside yesterday at 4:30pm and had 6 bites within 30 minutes. Time to start drowning myself in DEET. I was hoping the colder weather would keep them away a bit longer, but no luck.

Now my husband never gets bit and can stay out until dark - me as soon as the sun starts to set - look out!!

I just made three loaves of strombolli and we ate most of two loaves already!! Hmmm, need a piggy on here now don't we?
