What are you canning now?

Aren't they the most beautiful EVER! Those floral jellies are so pretty and so yum!

But what do they taste like? And what do you use them on/for?

They are beautiful but I can't imagine ever actually using them. And I had never heard of anyone making such things until this thread.

Nothing is ready over here yet

I am waiting on the strawberries, elderberries, actually all berries!!!

We have picked and frozen the spinach, and have elderflower champagne brewing away!

Picked up a free 6x8 greenhouse at the weekend!!!!!

My daughter eats the honeysuckle straight up on toast! I like rose petal jelly on short bread. I use lavender jelly in tea as a sweetener, or I heat it to a syrup and pour over vanilla ice cream. So many wonderful combinations and fun things to do with it. Think outside the box!

Our Lowes here sells canning supplies but I dont know where they put them out at in the store,The only time I see the supplies is in September when it all goes to clearance. We have a store here on the west coast (Winco) that sells jars for under $6.00 a case for the 8oz size. And the pectin is under $2.00 a box. They always have jars.

On another note my friend bought a 4 gallon bucket of no sugar added sliced strawberries last summer and kept it frozen all winter. She isnt able to get any canning done so she asked me if I wanted it!!

but does it taste like the way the flowers smell? because that doesn't sound appetizing at all.

Does anyone have a "different type" of recipe for apricot jam? I am headed to the u-pick for Blenhiem's as soon as they open on the 23rd of June. DH and I are quite tired of the strawberry that is left from last spring. It's nice because they sell flats door to door here and you can deal with them but man can not live on one type of jam alone! The florals are so pretty but we leave them for the bees! Speaking of that has anyone used honey in canning, I still have tons from last summer!?

The lavender tastes like lavender and the rose tastes like rose... the honeysuckle doesn't quite taste like the flower does, but still very flowery. Don't think of these are tasting very 'perfume like' they are more on the side of tasting like tea. So if you enjoy sweetened tea, these work very well for you.

Oh, and Dandelion tastes fantastic too!

My favorite one by far is clover, because it tastes like honey! Oh how I adore that one!

Just to add - *rage added here*

Seriously?! Their Ball Pint jars are only $7.99, but the 1/2 pints are $10?! Those people are stupid crazy! They will only price match if a price is listed in a flyer from another store to get them cheaper. They wouldn't call Walmart to get their price to price match for me. Even though Walmart is sold out anyways. They said if I buy them within a week from Walmart cheaper to bring in the receipt and they'll price match my next purchase that same week. What a rip off!

I actually think the rose petal taste like a mild Hawian punch and the honey suckle taste 7up or Sprite Mt Dew but not as sweet.
The neighbor thinks it taste of Honey and her son 21 thinks its the greatest. He came over the other day and He and I made him some honey suckle and Sassafras jelly LOL.
The sassafrass would be good on Pumpkin pancakes.

Shannon, next time you need jars in a crunch check Big Lots. They are not ball but other brand and look and work just as well.
