I don't even own a Water Bath canning pot, my pressure canner does double duty for everything. I don't see any point in wasting the storage space for another giant pot when that one works just fine.

I put fresh basil in mine last year....tasted fine. It is one of the ingredients in the Ball recipe for spaghetti sauce so it is safe. It doesn't stay bright green though.Can someone tell me if I can putnfresh basil in mymhome made pasts sauce I will can?

I do it all the time - what's pasta sauce without basil? It doesn't stay green and will look like you added spinach, but the flavor is wonderful.

I add everything but the kitchen sink to my sauce (basil, oregano, squash, zuke, carrots, garlic, onion, celery). We call it garden sauce now.
