What are you canning now?

True. Real honey never spoils.

Just watch out for the store-bought concoctions that are mostly fake honey from China.

Since honey keeps so long I buy it if I have money when I'm at a farmers market or other craft/farm sale place. I like to have plenty on hand. I like it in my tea. Harvest festivals are great places to pick up a small bottle or squeeze bear.

At the NYS Fair they have the bee set up and Beekeeps selling different varieties.
There's Clover or Summer Flowers or other types.

I don't know how they know where the bees have been to collect the pollen. Do they ask them or check the bottoms of their shoes like they do on CSI?

"Oh you said you in the Clover fields but this is Golden Rod on your shoes, are you cheating with a new Queen? You better not be bringing in Summer Flower pollen or you're fired! "

Maybe the Queen tracks them using the GPS on their cell phones.

Do bees have an NSA?

It was either chickens or bees this year, and we went with chickens. Bees will be my new project come spring :) I can't wait. Already checked with the farmer who neighbors our property about the sprays he uses, and we should be fine for getting the honeybees. Can't wait for honey <3
Spent two days canning and got 62 quarts of tomatoes (3 bushels)

We had the same dilemma! Only we ended up getting both!

Bees were in May and chickens were in July, so no problem. Seriously, though, it has been a learning curve for both so I think it was smart of you to do one at a time. Check out the bee thread here (maybe you already have):

We're headed off to the NM State Fair this weekend. Looking forward to cruising the home goods and livestock barns. And, of course, our yearly pilgrimage for the any-food-you-can-think-of fried on-a-stick. For me, nothing tastes better than a corndog at the fair...sublime!

Seriously?! Gad-zooks! That's 19 degrees F right?
Please tell me it is a freakish thing.
Do you ever get ripe tomatoes?
Sorry that it has started so soon.
You all just thawed out didn't you?
Bummer
sorry.
