What are you canning now?

Congrats! I should have known or at least guessed that it meant fiance. LOL (Not always so swift on the uptake!)

Sorry to hear about his dad. I sincerely hope it is not something so dire.

Your wedding will be here before you know it. I pray your special day and every day together thereafter is blessed beyond all you can imagine.

I married my best friend too - eighteen years ago and he is still my best friend!! Married life is so wonderful. In my previous career I was a Special Events Director for a major winery in the Napa Valley my heart goes out to you with all those little and final details. But your day will be very special and a joyous memory for the rest of your lives together. Best wishes to the both of you.

We have done over 100 pints of beans (yellow & green) plus about 30 quarts. Tomatoes did not do well here at all so haven't done anything with them. Also did about 40 pints of pickles. Peppers are about ready so they'll be next. And I did about 30 pint jars of zuchini bread. Made out black raspberries into juice but it's in the freezer waiting to be made into jelly. Oh and how could I forget! We had 253 lbs of cabbage that we have in 25 & 6 gallon crocks "working". Labor Day weekend it should be ready to can.

Thanks Dragonfly Ranch! I always tell people how wonderful it is to pop open a jar of something I canned when there is a foot of snow on the ground. It just smells awesome. I pressure canned beets this year, too. Can't wait to taste them. Also made some pickled.
Boy, I'm getting hungry all of a sudden.

I haven't canned this yet but want to. Ham and bean soup.
I just cooked up a ham and wanted to try canning soups for the winter. I've googled with not much luck. Just wanting a ham and bean soup to can. Blue ball has a recipe but not much meat in it. Can I go a head and add extra meat? My Dh says if its called ''ham and beans'' is should have more ham than beans in the soup.

I assume you've got a pressure canner? You can't can beans or ham in a boiling water canner.

I canned 14 quarts of green beans yesterday with some of them being purple royalty, which are gorgeous and cook up green. I had bigger ones, so got to shell them and they are so pretty in the jars. I plan to make pizza sauce tomorrow, and probably can pick some more beans for canning Friday morning. I love canning, got away from it for a few years because of something called "life" and goofy kids, but want to get back with a vengeance.

It's so fun seeing all the pictures. So much good food is being prepared for those cold months ahead. Three cheers for all the hard work!

I finished the grape jam yesterday. I got a bit off track as DH couldn't work because of rain. He did help me with all that stirring of the jam and he picked another 5 gallon bucket of grapes.
I'll be making grape juice today.
Another batch of tomotes finished drying last night. I'll put in another today and that should finish up the yellow pear tomatoes. Those little things sure are good.
I got the other dehydrator out and will give grapes a try. We have more grapes ready to be picked. My DBIL has grapes at this place and said no one eats them and they are ours. They've gone to waste the last several years. Those vines are full and we are watching for them to ripen.

Happy canning.
