What are you canning now?

I prefer jelly so much more than jam (except for strawberry

). I'll take CHUNKS of strawberry ANY day!! But black raspberry is our household favorite! Do you mean blackberry/raspberry or black raspberry?? Regardless, CONGRATS on your first batch! I doubt you'll ever buy store bought again!!

Blackberry/raspberry. That's why the / was in there. too much work to type them both out. We have wild black raspberries behind our house but not enough to make jelly or jam with. Just enough to grab a few each day to put with yogurt

That sounds yum DR... I would love to try that too.

I am blanching 5 lbs of peaches now. I'm going to make some french vanilla peach jam today I think. Plus I have 2 lbs of muscadine grapes that are ready.

You can do it! On jellies just make sure after you add the pectin and bring back to a rolling boil, only boil FOR 1 MINUTE or it might not set. And use a pot twice the size of what you think you need. When this stuff starts boiling, it rises quickly and if it boils over, you've got a mess! Other than that jelly is pretty easy once you have the juice

Thanks for the heads up. I'm known to turn the kitchen into a disaster when I cook. No Bake Cookies can quickly turn into a fire 'round here.

Nice KD, I need to make another batch actually! I'm getting low.

I just made 8 jars of muscadine grape jelly and 7 jars of the french vanilla peach... but the peach hasn't set yet *nervous*

I also had to redo my frog jam as it didn't set the first time... but I got it this time.

I am running out of fabulous jam ideas?! Anyone want to suggest their ultimate favorite?

We're going to have a 'Jam Party' brunch one day. Not sure exactly when, but soon... and I want to have some exotic flavors to share.

Anyways, this Jam party is going to be like a tupperware thing, or that candle company. I'm going to have a 'tasting' with some of our flavors, maybe play a game to do a jam giveaway. Pay the host in jam, and then take jam orders. I'll allow purchases immediately, as well as show gift basket/box options they can pre-purchase for Christmas. Sound good?

Funny, it came to me doing dishing while I was trying to come up with a good scone recipe... All because I want something special to eat my jam off of! LOL

My top favorite and most requested
Roasted Garlic and Onion jam
Apple pie ice cream topper
Spiced Peach ice cream topper
Corn Cob jelly
habanero gold jelly

I too am always looking for the special jams people do not necessarily make for themselves they tend to sell better, I will be watching for ideas also

As you can tell I have huge ice cream lovers in the family and they love the different toppings, this year I am adding praline syrup and walnut syrup topping to their gifts along with the apple pie and spiced peach topping. I tend to do themes every year.

I really liked the blushing peach I made this year for the first time which was a rasp/peach combo.

So, I'm supposed to be taking it easy for a week, doc's orders after they decided to run me through the mill on Thursday. But.... well....... like that's going to happen. I can can between muscle spasms

Anyway.... a 25 pound case of tomatoes showed up yesterday. We won't discuss how it got here

But I will say I didn't drive or leave the house. Today I have peeled cored and seeded all but 5 of them (those are for hubby) and am now currently making sauce. Dang this is a big batch of sauce. I've already seasoned it, added the red wine and the balsamic vinegar, now just waiting on it to cook down just a little more so I can put it up.

All I have left is wide mouth quart jars.... Why didn't they make a wide mouth jar lifter?
