What are you canning now?

For the last few years, we have had northern temps long enough to kill things. We are supposed to have 20 degrees Wednesday night. Today we replaced greenhouse poly, moved in our hibiscus from the ground cloth, and split wood. Tomorrow... I pick fruit.
I am not going another summer without lemonade, so it all gets squeezed and into the Freezer. But I hate to waste all of the peel, so now I have a place for it to go too!
Into the booze.

Mine is!!! My DH does all the canning! Don't ask me how I managed that! He just canned some fresh wild goose breast and venison roasts(cubed). Maybe cause I do all the hunting! (except for the goose)

Been away for a while but have done some canning. Made a new Raspberry Cranberry Preserves and Cranberry Chutney. Went to my mom's over Thanksgiving and she had cleaned out her old shop and gave me about 100 canning jars. I'll have plenty of quart jars when canning gets in full swing next spring.

SillyChicken You are lucky indeed to have a husband who likes to can. My husband is also starting to get the canning bug. Going to have him help with canning up all the berry juice that I have in the freezer.

Today my DD (26) and I canned some things for her to give as gifts to her friends.

We made a big batch of Jalapeno Jelly. A big batch of Carrot Cake Jam (shredded carrots, chopped pears and canned pineapple (from the Bell Book). Also a batch of SUPER HOT Salsa (Jalapenos and Habeneros, including the seeds and veins). Most of the Salsa will go to her Dad who has a cast iron mouth and stomach.

The part that I liked the best: DD said: You know, I need to learn how to do this!! It is a very special art and something that I want to be able to pass down to my children (when she has some!). It is also something that might be real important to feeding my family. SCORE!!!!!

Keep in mind that I live in the SF Bay Area and there are many grocery stores within 5 miles of our house.
