What are you canning now?

yeah we didn't have enough buckets to put them in and the lady wanted her buckets back. we had just got feed on monday for all the chickens and rabbits so all of our 5-gallon buckets were full of feed and then the lightbulb went off...that old busted water trough that DH had been wanting to throw away! DING DING DING It has served purpose as a makeshift brooder, water trough, and now tomater holder

Although I have already started on my tomatoes this morning- have several blanching right now. Going to make spaghetti sauce. Kinda disappointed though since I can't seem to find the Mrs Wages mixes that I use every year! So I have gotta do it from scratch and I found out last night that I am allergic to fresh parsley! Makes me sneeze and and makes my eyes all watery! Great...

busy day ahead!
 
Those look so yummy! One question, is it safe to re-use the lids like that? I've been told that they can only be used once and only the bands can be re-used if not damaged. I know they are a different type but your not worried?
 
You guys are killing me!

I just got another 7 lbs of tomatoes in today, not including the cherry tomatoes which will be sun-dried in my car tomorrow. (The 100 degree temps are going to work well in my favor for this!)

Need to knock out these cukes I have as well before they lose their crispness. Also have peppers just about ready, so hoping to have enough to freeze. Unlikely as the kids literally pulled up and killed 4 plants early in the season, and I lost a few from having to move some in the garden. I went from something like 16 plants down to 8.

Oh well! My banana peppers are like CRAZY producers... starter early in the season and are not slowing down a bit. So I've pickled about 4 quarts of those for sandwiches and salads. That claussin style pickle refridge recipe works for the peppers too.

My mother is canning tons and tons of pickled cucumbers, beets, and goodness-knows-what-else. She really loves to can! This is her first time making pickles though.

i sure hope they're good. I love pickles. She also made blueberry and cherry jam which WAS good.

6 qts Chili ready tomatoes
3 qts 1 pt Tomato Juice
7 pt Rotel Style Tomatoes

I am tired!
