What are you canning now?

I did. I did the water bath method vs pressure canning.
I used to buy it at the store, and ended up tossing it out before anyone ate it. The homemade is a favorite of my husbands.
Someone else did kraut on here. Do a byc search and see what they did.
I had trouble getting the brine to sour, so I added some homemade vinegar and got the mother started that way. cheat.

I know.

BRILLIANT! I was wondering why mine still wasn't souring.

With my work load, grand kids im raising and teens this old gal has no time to can, but im so jealous . I miss pickled beets in jars, I miss jams and jellies. I have tons of jars just sitting here. If any of you are from Montana and wish to sell your products I'm your gal! I will buy beets, jams jellies, etc. !

They tested me for that every time I went in. Every blood test same things were tested for.
don't rule out allergies. I had a doctor who actually told me that people do not get allergies.
I knew better.
If you run out of insurance money before you can have the allergy tests done, try some over the counter antihistamines like the generic claritin, and use it everyday for a month. see if it helps.

Sorry about hubby being laid off. We are on the cusp of that as well... when are they going to call this a depression and quit saying that we 'might' be entering a recession? five part time jobs does not a real job make.

I've got the leftovers of a whole chicken with water added in the crock pot on low overnight... I'll be pressure canning chicken broth tomorrow

I put a pack of yogurt starter or a bit of kefir whey on mine. Always works.
My favorite sauerkraut is red cabbage, onions, apples and caraway seeds. I need t make some. We've been out for months and the house is finally cool enough.
I freeze mine so that it stays crunchy and all the good probiotics stay alive.

I would make kefir, far more good probiotics than yogurt. Much easier to make, too. No fuss, no muss.

Sounds like a good plan, thanks for the suggestion!
