What are you doing to help the economy?

Let's see, we cleared some land, built a barn and a fence, bought two horses and put braces on our daughter's teeth. All of that money went to local small businesses. Well except the horses, but that still went to local individuals. That was by choice. Then we spent a bunch of other money, not by choice. Our shower broke and had to be replaced, several other smaller home repairs came up and two of our dogs had major vet bills (gastro-intestinal foreign body and snake bite). If the unexpected stuff had happened first, we probably would not have done all of the other stuff just yet. We've put more into the economy this year than any other year except when we built our house. And now we're trying to put as little as we can into it!

I'm not so sure if it helps the economy or not, but we don't own any Credit cards, haven't for 10 yrs. and doing just fine without. So no bailout for me!
I got chickens to help a bit, however the town has taken them away and on Monday I go fight the town to get them back ( I had just 3 and I live in the burbs ).
I don't drive nearly as much as I used to, carpool, etc.
I have my eye on a house that is going into foreclosure, but I would have to sell my current home and that scares me since no one is buying.
Maybe it's not helping as much as I'd hoped, but it's what I'm doing.

Well since here in Georgia we don't have any gas , We are eating at home, watching tv at home, picking turnip greens for Sunday lunch at home. Eating our eggs from our chickens at home. Gee I wonder when the "gas hogs" are gonna figure out they are hurting themselves not me. I am going 2 plus weeks on a tank of gas. Guess I am not helping the economy much but I am one less person waiting in line for gas !!!

Here's what I've been doing for about 30 years.

I never borrowed money I couldn't pay back.

I never bought a house I couldn't afford.

Our current house was done in a biuld-as-you-go fashion and has no mortgage.

I've never carried a credit card balance.

I've always paid my taxes, which are often used to fund corrupt politicians, dead-end social programs and non-working illegal aliens.

Unfortunately, I don't think the bail-out will work long term. I still think we'll have a huge crash. The problem with that is, unlike the 30's, is I think the violence will be through the roof.

I can honestly say I am NOT helping the economy at this time. I have dropped digital cable, quit buying so much foods, put up a clothesline, save rain water, fired my monthly terminex plan, now drink tap water, grow veggies, quit eating processed foods, no longer pay for gym membership, quit going out to the movies, dinner, and for ice cream, didn't buy school pictures this year, don't drink or smoke anymore, spent half of what I normally would for my sons birthday, quit maintenance on my car, and overall no more a spend thrift. Overall, I just don't help the economy anymore. Boooooo.

Edited to add, I carpool now, don't flush everytime, gave up lotto, didn't have a vacation this year, and if I didn't make money from the internet, that would be next to go.
