What are you doing to help the economy?

You guys can all HELP THE ECONOMY by sending me $10, I promise to spend it wisely and I won't tax you or anything on it.

I'm supporting the economy by PAYING MY MORTGAGE!!! Even though the bank I financed my home through no longer exists!

We buy local produce and I work in my Grandmother's Antique store for little to nothing so that she can make more to support herself. We also never go to Walmart but shop at local businesses.
I also spend a ton of money locally on hay for my horses since KY has been in drought for 2 years!!
AND I AGREE WITH THIS--
'I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We
Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide
U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and
child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up...

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals
$425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It
Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay off your Brooks tennis dues.

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is
cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead
of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that
is being proposed
by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every
adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in
Washington DC .

And remember, This plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because
$25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

I EVEN SENT THIS TO ALL KY'S BigWigs with No response, lol...figures they DONT listen to the people who pay their paychecks...

My husband and I bought another home. We are renting our old home to a family that "got foreclosed" Hubby got a new tractor. I got a beautiful chicken coop and run for the girls. Hubby got a new laptop and I am getting a new mountain bike and boob job.

If spending money is what helps the economy, I'm hurting it as much as possible. Our system based on consumption and debt is going to have to end sooner or later anyway.

Oblio, I agree. After Sept 11th when Bush told everyone to fight terrrism by going shopping I really just about lost it. There was a great moment there when we could have talked, as a nation, about what really makes us trong: freedom of speech and assembly, self reliance coupled with taking care of those who can't do it alone, prosperity of other kinds than the dolar-waving, posession-flaunting crap that's now got us here.

It's not to late to enjoy simple things. A good way to fight the powers of evil.

Rhett&SarahsMom :

to tell you the truth I havent curbed my spending that much at all.

I mean we did get chickens for the eggs and such, but we spent $$ on the coop and run. I buy feed for them.
I still have my pig of a horse. And he isnt getting cheaper:rolleyes:
I still buy my kid clothes, and an occasional treat.
We still buy books. And an occasional DVD
We dont go to see movies as much, but that just means the movies stink.
I am hooked on Etsy(heaven help me) But I figure I am helping people out there as well.

Yeah, we buy in bulk. A LOT. But it is because we can. We have the room to store canned and dry goods etc.And more to come when I get the basement more cleared out.

I dont see the bailout helping anything. IMHO it is just big business whining and getting what they want

Same for us. ... The only difference is we're not buying land or building our home as soon as we want to. We were thinking this spring, but will probably put it off another year just to see how things go with the housing industry and lenders.
