awww... i love everyones flocks!
I ve got 1 white leghorn and a white leghorn mix. they are loving and enjoy our family! Although they are happier unhandled, they love being near us and talk to us. They are curious and love to explore the backyard. now we are excited for the next part...the eggs! this friday we open up the nesting box!!!

How'd you manage to get out with only two? First trip: each of my kids picked two chicks and I got a chick and duck. Next trip: Husband decided he wanted to raise meat birds, and I thought Darkwing needed friends of her own species. Ended up getting her three. Ugh.

I have 2 cockoo orpingtons, 1 black orpington, 3 wyandottes, 6 EE, and 5 BCM. They are all young and have not started laying yet.

love, love, love!
yes, we were lucky. But i am now OBSESSED with getting 2 silkies.
we don't have a coop that will fit more...YET. that will change in a month. we are building a coop that houses 8-and i will build a mother-in-law unit for the silkies. i promised my husband that i wouldn't get anymore for awhile after that...but...
my plan is that in three years to get a polish hen and an easter egger. then in five years to get a fauvana and an amercauna. that's my 8. then sadly when each pair goes, i can add more new friends.
being patient is hard!
one thing that slows our family down is that we DON'T eat the eggs. so they are truly pets. and every time i walk into the feed store we visit the chicks for a l o n g time. i think anyone who has lots of birds is soooo very lucky.
enjoy your happy flock!!!!!

I have 39 chickens ( oldest 9 months, youngest 2 weeks) with 15 due to hatch August 27, 2 ducks (2weeks), 1 cat ( 8 years old)and 1 dog(13 years old) I really want goats (Nigerian). I plan on getting a few more ducks.
I have Polish, Jersey Giants, Favorellas, Cochins, Silkies, Frizzles and Sebrights. Love them all. Oh I forgot my Dark Brahma.

The kids and I are vegetarians that only eat animal products if we know how they're raised. My husband is around to keep the mean hens and roosters out of the mix. Next, they want goats.

We don't have a coop, yet, but that's the plan for the next few weeks. They have already decided where it's going, so that's half the battle with these guys. No one warned me that homeschooling would lead to 20-some odd birds in my yard.

My mother in laws. Just took this shot this morning when I was over there cleaning out her coops for her. He is a mean booger. But I really like the feathers on the feet. Makes him different
